What are the characteristics of a leader who relies on

Christ’s power and not his or her own talents, gifts, personality, or

wisdom?



In conclusion




• 1. Total Dependence on Christ’s power and not on his or her own competence - 2 Corinthians 3:4- 6; John 15:5; John 9:33; Philippians 4:12-13; Ephesians 3:16-17; Ephesians 6:10-12




• 2. A leader who does not rely on man’s wisdom but on Divine provision- 1 Corinthians 2:4-5; 2 Corinthians 13:3-4; 2 Corinthians 4:7-9;Ephesians 1:18-22, Colossians 1:11-13




• 3. A leader of faith relying on the promises of God’s Word - Galatians 3:14

4. One who understands the concept of the Body of Christ and interdependent parts- 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Romans 12




• 5. A leader who is daily dying to self and allowing Christ to live through his life - Galatians 2:20-21

6. One who is not trying to justify himself by his works but desiring constantly to honor Christ with his good works- Ephesians 2:5-10




• 7. A person who is setting aside pride and ambition and operating in a spirit of humility-Philippians 2:1-4; 1 Corinthians 1:30-31; Romans 15:17-18

8. A leader who is striving to set his mind on the eternal and not the temporal - Colossians 3:2-4




• 9. One who is not embarrassed to be called a fool, slandered, mistreated, or considered weak - 1 Corinthians 4:10-13; 2 Corinthians 12:8-10; 2 Corinthians 13:3-4;

10. A person who gives out the fragrance of Christ - 2 Corinthians 2:14




• 11. A leader who is not better than others but totally different from those around him that do not know Christ-2 Corinthians 5:17

12. One who does not demand from others, but appeals on the basis of love- Philemon 8-9



In conclusion• Christ does not need our strong abilities,

but our submission in total dependence to Him.

• He does not need our wisdom but our eyes focused on His provision for the moment, not our bright minds but our faith.

• He does not want us to be a lone ranger, but a dependent member of His Body relying on those less visible or prominent.



In conclusion• We must not emphasize our strong

personality, but constantly die to self. • We must learn to be humble instead of

always wanting to be in charge and up front.

• Our objectives must be eternal and not temporal.

• Our goals must be of the unseen and not only the things that we can count and control.



In conclusion• We must be willing to be weak and

thought foolish while giving off the fragrance of the living Christ.

• Our lives and actions must only be explained by Him, and we must operate from influence and not position or power



Isaiah 30:19

• He (God) will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.

- God is a good God.- He wants to be gracious and kind towards you.

PRAYER: Lord, You know what is in my heart and You hear when I call to You. You are my hope and I trust You. Amen.



Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I

surrender myself to walk in the Word in the marketplace. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen



Learning, application and commitment: James 1: 22-25

• “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

• Do what it says. • Anyone who listens to the word but does not do

what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

• But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.” (NIV)
