INTRODUCTION

Social entrepreneurship is the attempt to draw upon business techniques to find solution to social problems. This concept may be applied to a variety of an organization with different sizes, aims & beliefs.

Meaning of social entrepreneur:-A person who establishes

an enterprise with the aim of solving social problems or effecting social change.

Examples of some of the social entrepreneurs:-Susan B. Anthony (usa) , gean movement(France) baba amte (india), vinoba bhave(india)

Importance of social entrepreneurship

1. Employment development:- the first major economic value that social entrepreneurship creates is the most obvious one because it is shared with entrepreneurs and businesses alike job and employment creation.

2. Innovation or new goods & services:- social enterprises develop and apply innovation important to social economic development and develop new goods & services.

3. Social capital:- next to economic capital one of the most important values created by social entrepreneurship is social capital.

4. Equity promotion:-social entrepreneurship fosters a more equitable society by addressing social issues and trying to achieve ongoing sustainable impact through their social mission rather than purely profit maximization.

Current development in social entrepreneurship:-Here are a few current developments in social entrepreneurship .they are as follows:-

1. Energy2. Education3. Livelihood promotion4. Financial inclusion5. Affordable health care6. Affordable housing7. Water and sanitization8. Agriculture

Energy: - social enterprises enter this space in order to enable access environmentally friendly, affordable energy. They play a key role in improving leaving standards of poor household. Roof top solar lightening and low smoke

cook stove are sum of the initiatives in this space.

1. Education: - social enterprises are very active in education of the under privileged children. They work around these challenges through advocacy capacity enhancing solutions. This enterprises catter from early childhood to adulthood and exists in formats such as preschools and after school classes.e-learning and vocational and skill development institutes.

2. Livelihood promotion: social entrepreneurs in this space are

broadly classified in to two categories: entity that promotes livelihoods and those that facilitate skill development. In most livelihood enterprises

the procedure or artesian hold majority ownership. Entrepreneurs in that skill development sec- tor are mostly structured as for profit entities.

3. Financial inclusion: - micro finance institution (MFIS) act as

financial intermediaries, offer products and processes aimed at serving economically weaker section of society. At present only 10% of total demand for micro credit is met by MFIS.

Water and Sanitation - Social entrepreneurs are typically involved in rain-water harvesting, community water treatment, point-of-use filtration, and small-scale

water networks.

Affordable Healthcare - The affordable healthcare sector in India is at a nascent stage. Affordable healthcare providers reduce the cost of service delivery through innovative operating models. Over 60 per cent of the population in India lives in villages and small towns while 70 per cent of medium-to-large hospitals are located in metros and large

Agriculture - Agriculture and allied sectors provide livelihood to over 70 per cent of the rural population in India. Social enterprises working in this sector create economic and social value by eliminating inefficiencies from the current value chains.

Affordable housing - According to the Twelfth Five Year Plan document, the gap in the urban housing market is estimated at 18.8 million dwelling units. Moreover, about 73 per cent of the self-occupied units are in bottom 40 per cent of the urban households. Affordable housing developers create economic value by minimizing construction cost and completion time through integrative technical solutions and

process innovations

Conclusion: - The current development in social entrepreneurship has bought lot of changes in the society, due to which the living conditions of the people has become standard. There are many developments like solar energy solar cookers etc...In energy education level has come to e-education (ex:-smart classes).there are many skill development institutions setup to promote their living standard. There are many hospital houses set up for free treatment and housing.
