Parents and carers will have the opportunity to pop into your child’s classroom and ask any questions you may have. To support this the school has implemented a number of measures as part of our COVID-Safe Plan to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff. We will send home a timetable, where you can choose an appropriate 10 minute time slot, to visit your child’s classroom for a quick chat to the teacher. At the end of last year updated COVID regulations were released for schools. There have been some minor changes over the holiday period and a summary is below.

Visitors to school sites

● Parents and carers are still restricted from entering onto school sites except for the following purposes only:

● Parents and carer meetings with teachers and/or school executives with an appointment.

● Drop off and pick up of students from the school office. ● Parents may attend as spectators for outdoor events at the invitation of the

school, with 30 people indoors or 100 people outdoors. It is recommended that outdoor events such as sporting activities be limited to 1 hour. For that reason all events that exceed an hour will have no parent/carer spectators.

Start of Day Drop off and End of Day Pick Up

● We will still be asking parents to “kiss and drop” at the school gate at the start of the school day, to avoid gatherings of adults on the school site.

● The Department of Education has made allowances for a K-2 parent to walk their child into the school grounds for the first few days. If this is necessary, 1 parent is asked to drop off in the playground only and leave the grounds promptly.

● If parents/carers need to come to the school office at the start of the school day or at any time during school hours they will be required to;

● sign in using a QR Code (please bring smartphones) ● read and sign the “External Visitors to the School Site” form sign the

“Visitors Book” if moving outside the office area and meeting with staff. We very much appreciate all families assisting us to meet our obligations to keep staff, students and our community members safe.

● Please also remember, students should not be at school if they are unwell. Children with cold and flu like symptoms will need to present a negative COVID test result before returning to school.

Positive Behaviour for Learning.

Be Safe Be a Learner Be Respectful

We have been learning about how to be Safe, Respectful and a Learner in all areas of the school. The students have been learning about the importance of active listening in the classroom and safe areas to play in the playground. Our Year 6 students have been amazing role models and buddies for our new Kindergarten students. They have been teaching them how to play and be safe at our school. Congratulations Year 6, the staff are very proud of your leadership.

Sun Safety

All students will need a wide brimmed hat to ensure they are sun safe on our playgrounds. Thank you for your support by reminding and encouraging sun safe play.

Swimming Carnival

Tomorrow (Friday 5 February) is our 8 and above Swimming Carnival. Students will depart school at approx. 9.10am on the bus and arrive back to school approx. 1.30pm. Students will need a wide brimmed hat, water, sunscreen and lunch. There will be a canteen, so students can purchase food if they want. Please remember that unfortunately parents are unable to attend. Let’s hope we can have you all at the next event.
