c Decide which career path best suits you. Australian apprenticeships/traineeships are available in over 500 occupations, so chances are there’ll be one that matches your interests
c Explore the careers area on the Australian JobSearch website at www.jobsearch.gov.au/careers. Or you may already have a job in a relevant Industry
c Write or brush up your resume! Don’t forget to include: c your contact details c your school studies, achievements and work experience c your interests, skills and career goals
c Find an employer willing to take you on as a school-based apprentice/trainee. You can do this by: c looking in the job vacancy ads in your local paper or on the web c contacting the Job Services Australia provider c contacting employers in the industries you’d like to work in. Go and see them and leave a copy of your resume; or c you may already be working part-time in an industry
c Once you have found an employer, ask your careers advisor to complete the school-based apprentice/trainee notification form and submit it to our SBAT Project Officer
c Both the form and SBAT Project Officer details can be found at www.sydneytafe.edu.au/tvet
c Discuss Australian apprenticeships/traineeships with your career advisors, VET coordinator or teachers. They will have access to plenty of information. Investigate your training and career options at:
