CHAGAS DISEASE
Chagas disease, also known as American trypanosomiasis, is a tropical parasitic disease caused by the flagellate protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi.
It is characterized because is a parasites that can seriously injure the heart and the
digestive and nervous system.

Chagas disease has been a scourge to mankind since ancient times, and remains a significant social problem and
economic growth in many countries of Latin America.
Causes:Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of the disease, is a
member of the genus Trypanosoma, which is the same genus as the infectious agent that causes African sleeping
sickness (African trypanosomiasis).
