A Plan to Place Diverse Learners From My Personal Philosophy of Music Education I believe children who have specials needs benefit when working within the standard population. I believe the standard population has an equal advantage when working with children who have special needs. The mainstreamed classroom provides an environment that allows both populations to learn compassion for each other and develop a better understanding of how to work within the greater complex society. In the same manner, I believe in embracing and celebrating all ethnicities and learning styles. The musician has a unique opportunity to experience the core values of all cultures expressed by studying and performing its music. From a Practical Standpoint I believe in conferring with the EC teachers. Exceptional students who are interested and capable should be placed in an appropriate choir. In the past and in the future, I always have a place for students with special needs. Currently I am mainstreaming a student with Down Syndrome. Previously, I have taught students with severe visual impairments as well as students with both physical and mental handicaps. These students not only excelled but became leaders among their peers.

A Plan to Place Diverse Learners

From My Personal Philosophy of Music Education

I believe children who have specials needs benefit when working within the standard

population. I believe the standard population has an equal advantage when working with

children who have special needs. The mainstreamed classroom provides an environment that

allows both populations to learn compassion for each other and develop a better

understanding of how to work within the greater complex society.

In the same manner, I believe in embracing and celebrating all ethnicities and learning styles.

The musician has a unique opportunity to experience the core values of all cultures expressed

by studying and performing its music.

From a Practical Standpoint

I believe in conferring with the EC teachers. Exceptional students who are interested and

capable should be placed in an appropriate choir. In the past and in the future, I always have a

place for students with special needs.

Currently I am mainstreaming a student with Down Syndrome. Previously, I have taught

students with severe visual impairments as well as students with both physical and mental

handicaps. These students not only excelled but became leaders among their peers.
