A Word from Rev. Mike Eder
9:00am Ages 3 & up
May 8, 22
As you read this, your vice chair of the Elders, Jill Edwardsen and I will be at
the lovely Mt. Morris Camp & Conference Center in cosmopolitan Wautoma,
Wisconsin at the 2016 Western District Synod. There we will join a hundred
or so other good hearted Moravians to celebrate our faith and do the work
of the church. Please keep us all in your prayers as we elect new leaders and
work to cipher out God’s will for our district and our communities.
April goes into the record book as a blur from my side of the pulpit. It started
out with my first out-of-state car show in Fargo, North Dakota. I got 7 miles
per gallon bucking a headwind all the way in a borrowed 1 ton truck pulling a
24 foot trailer.
I came home to baptize my grandson Grayson Michael O’Keefe on the
morning of the 10th and later that afternoon we gathered the faithful to
remember and mourn the loss of Ivan Zwart who graced this congregation
for most of his 61 years. Ivan and I grew up together here at the church as he
was only 2 years younger than me. Ivan was happy and joyful and born with
Down’s Syndrome and was loved by most everyone who crossed his path.
Although he was not what is typically referred to as a “good student,” he was
a powerful teacher and channel of God’s grace. Godspeed, my brother Ivan.
The 17th brought the 3rd annual “Mancake Breakfast” to our door as we
welcomed new members Janet Nelson and Judi Giese to the fold. Finally, on
the 24th, John Hiscox brought his bluegrass band “Chance Meetings” to play
for our morning worship with a little help from yours truly on the harmonica.
Musically speaking, the big news in Carver County this week was the
untimely passing of Prince Rogers Nelson who has resided in these parts for
several decades. Congrats Eric Clapton, you’re now the undisputed world’s
greatest living guitar player.
In His Service,
Pastor Mike

PENTECOST WORSHIP – MAY 15
Did you know that the feast of Pentecost is often
referred to as the birthday of the Church? It is called
that because Pentecost is when the apostles went out
among the people and began spreading Jesus'
message, thus establishing the beginning of the Church.
Join us Sunday, May 15
to celebrate!
Wear Red to worship!

UPDATE ON BACKPACK OUTREACH
PROJECT – FROM JULIE TAYLOR
I know God is blessing CMC's Homeless Backpack Outreach! This weekend we were able to deliver a pack to a homeless woman living in a hotel…she was so grateful. We also dropped off a number of packs to Families Moving Forward . We drove into Minneapolis yesterday and noticed a fellow on the off ramp on Hwy 35 and gave him a backpack. He was wearing a cross with Jesus around his neck. When we gave him the backpack, he pointed to his neck and said, “Who sent you? It must have been Jesus.” He was right on about that! May God bless this gentleman Steven standing on the off ramp of Hwy 35.
God is gracious. God is good. Julie
