What is Acid Rain?Acid rain is rain that has been made acidic by

certain chemicals in the air. Acid rain is wet deposition which is acid carried by rain, snow, sleet, or fog.

What Causes Acid Rain?Acid rain is caused by burning fossil fuels.

When you burn oil, gas or coal, nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide is released into the air. These gases combine with the rain and create acid rain instead.

Effects of Acid RainAcid rain causes many bad effects to the

environment. Acid rain’s effect on buildings is bad. It causes limestone and marble to erode away causing buildings to wither away.

Effects of Acid RainAcid rain also effects lakes and bodies of

water. It raises acid levels in the water and causes aquatic life to die out. If any life survives it is completely different from before.

Effects of Acid RainAcid rain effects soil and vegetation. It

causes soil’s acid levels to rise and this makes plants die. It also stop trees and plant life from receiving oxygen and stopping them from growing.

Effect of Acid RainAcid rain does not have a major effect on humans.

The pollutants inside it do effect humans though. The chemicals inside it could irritate or even damage the lungs.

How to Prevent Acid Rain? There are many ways to reduce the amount

of acid rain. Close electrical items when they are not in use. Use tools that require less electrical power. One major way is to stop producing fossil fuels.
