ACKNOWLEDGMENT
At the outset, I would like to thank the Manager of HDFC Mutual Funds, Somajiguda,
Hyderabad Mr. Rajesh for giving me the opportunity to do my summer internship in
his esteemed organization. His valuable suggestions and opinions on mutual funds
enabled me to think in a bigger perspective.
I would also like to thank my Project Guide Mrs. Namratha Jain , Sales Manager from
the bottom of my heart for having welcomed me into the organization as if I were an
employee and having posed the confidence in me to make me deal with the
transaction or business of the company to a certain extent. Thank you Madam for all
the exposure you have given me, that never made me feel that I am a fresher.
I would like to thank Mrs.Priya, Regional head of Operations and Client Services,
HDFC Mutual Fund, Hyderabd, who has been a constant support and guide
throughout the project. Thank you Madam for ever patiently teaching me the
fundamentals of Mutual Funds and for having always made the time to clear away
my doubts.

also my college Guide is another person to whom I will be forever grateful to. In
spite of her busy schedule, he ensured that she gave me all the necessary

To conclude, I would like to say that, I had begun this project as a novice to the
Mutual Fund industry. But working on the project gave me immense knowledge on
the Mutual Fund industry. It enabled me to know in detail about the various Mutual
Fund players in the industry, their Asset Under Management, performance of aselected schemes and in general, the workings and operations of Mutual Fund
industry. It has indeed been a great learning experience.

Abstract
Establishing realistic financial goals is the first essential step towards
successful investing. Understanding the kind of investment best suited to an
individual to help one achieve his goal is even more important. Financial Planning
cultivates a positive attitude towards saving and investment.
A Mutual Fund provides an option of investing without any major
complexities. In order to understand the logic behind the huge returns, which an
investor gets, we need to understand the performance parameters, which lead to
these returns.
The main objective of the study is to evaluate the performance of HDFC
Mutual Fund with DSP black Rock and Birla sun life Mutual Fund and this evaluation
can be done on the basis of parameters like NAV, AUM, Beta, Standard deviation,
Sharpe ratio, P/E Ratio, P/B Ratio, Portfolio Turnover, R-Squared, Alpha and Expense
Ratio.
For analysis, four categories of funds have been used, which are Equity funds,
Equity linked savings schemes, Balanced funds, Debt funds.
In each type of category, some schemes have been selected and then compared
with each other in order to know which Fund is performing better.
