Project summary

Gender equality in the sphere of economy is to a great extent the precondition for achieving gender equality in the society, and for full implementation of the established normative and institutional framework. Economic empowerment of women represents the most complex and difficult area for intervention. Particularly disadvantaged is the situation of women from rural areas of Čukarica who are isolated due to the distance from the centre, lower education and poor information.

Project partners are City Municipality of Čukarica and Association of Citizens BIO IDEA. BIO IDEA, the Social Franchise Project started in 2015 is a sustainable business model designed for vulnerable groups of women at risk of social exclusion and poverty. Within the social franchise network for the production of eco-soaps(eco-products), knowledge transfer and know-how are enabled, a joint appearance on the market with a recognizable brand, and franchise members of the diversity are solid and unique.

The concept relies on many years of efforts, as well as knowledge and experiences, professionals who have dealt with this topic through research or practice. The concept is innovative because it seeks to unite in a creative, educational way, as many people and institutions have the same aspiration: to enable the survival of social entrepreneurs who bravely stepped into the entrepreneurial zone.

Project summary

Education as the most important channel for social mobility largely remains unreachable for Roma, especially for Roma women. The project is designed as a response to the numerous challenges faced by young people from the Roma population in the education system, or who need to be positioned competitively on the labour market.

By realizing the project, local self-government will contribute to the goals of public policy in the field of human resource development, greater employability and social inclusion of the Roma population. By supporting the dissemination of career guidance and counselling services outside public sector institutions, these services will be available to potential beneficiaries outside the formal education system.

Project is aimed at establishing a Career Guidance and Counselling Centre as a mechanism to support people from marginalized groups. Another aspect is necessary raising of employability and economic empowerment of young Roma and Roma women aged 15-24 from the territory of the municipality of Čukarica.

Project will be implemented by Municipality of Cukarica and Centre for Quality Education during 12 months implementation period.

Project summary

Project will be implemented by Municipality of Kovačica, in partnership with the Centre for Social Work Kovačica and the Humanitarian Organization “Dečje srce”.

Municipality is intending to create a safe atmosphere for children and people with special needs and help them to better understand their environment, as well as to improve their abilities and constraints.

Sensory Rooms are physical spaces used to provide therapy for people with developmental disorders. These rooms are equipped with sensory elements such as sounds, lights, and other objects to create an environment where children and adults learn to develop key vocalization and motor skills.

The Project will contribute to prevention of frequent and sudden changes in mood and inadequate reaction among children. Sensory room will give children the opportunity to develop the sensory skills they will need for later life. The stimulating and calming atmosphere created in these specially equipped rooms improves coordination, improve speech skills, relaxes children who are constantly on the move, and directs attention of inactive children.

Project summary

Number of children from families living in bad economic conditions on the territory of the municipality of Kovačica is increasing, so is the number of beneficiaries of prolonged stay in schools in Kovačica. Primary schools "Sava Žebeljan" in Crepaja, "Mlada pokolenja" in Kovačica and "Sveti Georgije" in Uzdin provide services for vulnerable children.

Mentioned institutions are in very bad condition due to worn out equipment, lack of funds for more frequent maintenance of the walls in the area where food services are provided and rising needs for providing these services. In kitchens, meals are provided in two shifts every working day, which is why it is very important that these spaces are high quality and safe for both children and all employees. Due to deterioration of space and equipment, there is a risk to the health of children and other employees in school.

Project is aimed at improving the quality of the kitchen operation through harmonization in provision of services and improvement of the hygienic sanitary measures.

Project summary

The Centre for Social Work Apatin provides accommodation for 34 adult users without family care and support, refugees and internally displaced persons and other materially endangered families who cannot independently provide housing.

This is provided through the service "Social Housing in Protected Conditions". Problems faced by the target group, i.e. users of the SHPC service and Centre for Social Work Apatin, are high electricity cost and safety risks, among others. By obtaining funds for the introduction of central heating in the "Social Housing in Protected Conditions" facility, above mentioned problems will be solved, and risks eliminated.

Target groups i.e. persons accommodated in the building are former residents of collective centers for refugees and internally displaced persons where they lived in often very poor living conditions for many years before becoming resident of the SHPC service and facilities.

Improved conditions now will substantially contribute to more dignified living of the beneficiaries.

Project summary

The entire Roma population in Beočin municipality, which, according to the 2011 census, has 1422 inhabitants, is living in one part of Beočin. Most of the Roma settlements are consisted of workers' colonies built for the needs of the workers of the Beočin cement factory. In these workers' colonies, as well as in the rest of the settlements with Roma inhabitants, there is not a single playground for children.

Construction works and installation of children's playgrounds are in the focus of the project.

The realization of this project will have positive influence on the reduction of the difference in housing and overall living situation and conditions in Roma and non-Roma settlements.

Project summary

Proposed project lasting for 8 months is targeting following fields: improving social service delivery, capacity building of social service providers and new employment opportunities.

According to the latest Population Census, 2,390 people over 65 years old are living in the municipality of Beocin, 16% of the total population. Most of them are people with chronic illnesses who need help in everyday activities such as: purchasing and preparing food, heating the house, maintaining personal hygiene, laundry and housekeeping, help with medical visits, purchasing and taking medicine, paying bills, etc. About 60% of the elderly needing help in the home are poor and do not have family support and therefore live in isolation, in messy and uninhabited homes, without cooked food and inadequate health care. At the same time, there is currently no institution nor service provider dealing with the elderly in the municipality and can provide them with the necessary assistance, medical or some of the services related to household maintenance, or there is no established home help service.

The main objective of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the living situation of various vulnerable groups in Beocin by providing assistance in the home to the most vulnerable elderly who need the help of another person in carrying out daily activities.

Home assistance services will be provided by unemployed Roma women, social assistance beneficiaries, and who have received a certificate for specific service delivery.

Project summary

According to the data available in the National Employment Service, office in Čoka, there are 889 registered unemployed persons, out of which 495 are with elementary and incomplete elementary school.

The idea behind this project is to get cooperation between the municipality and one of the employers, "Stara Livnica O.S.Č.L" Čoka, in order to provide traineeship and improve skills of the persons registered as unemployed. Project will last 5 months and is aimed at raising employability of 8 persons.

For years now, there has been a mismatch between the available skills and the needs of employers in the labor market. Many young people have left the world of formal education and want to get hired, but they lack what is most important to employers - practical experience. There are also many adults who are unemployed, without any practical skills and experience, and therefore with a reduced ability to gain work.

Thus, the target group of the project, are young and adult unemployed persons who would improve their position in terms of their employability and better position in the labor market through the traineeship program.

Project summary

The project refers to the field of social protection, more specifically protection of children and youth with disabilities and behavioral disorders. Target group are children aged 12 to 18 years, from the records of the Center for Social Welfare in the municipality of Čoka. Children from target group are coming from all vulnerable groups, that is, children who, due to the manifestation of various forms of social, family and personal dysfunctionality, are treated through the social protection system.

The project idea is based on re-establishing the work of the club for children and youth by the "model Grig" (application of the method of socio-therapy work), which was originally formed in 2011. The club's work has achieved excellent results in the period of functioning of the club, which led to a large drop in the number of juvenile offenders, as well as minors with asocial behavior.

The lack of funds for continuing to provide the same service to children and young people resulted in an increase in the number of registered children with asocial behavior in the Center, as well as an increase in the number of reported violence, which indicates the need to re-establish and introduce activities at the local level.

The overall objective of the project is to promote social integration of children and youth in the territory of the municipality of Čoka.

The specific objective of this 12 months long project is to provide support for independent living and active participation of young people in society through the establishment of a club for children and youth in Čoka.

Project summary

Project is focused on empowerment of women and promotion of women’s rights, with special focus on women in rural areas.

In Serbian society, and especially in rural areas, the patriarchal model of family life is deeply rooted, which is reflected in unequal positions, roles, responsibilities, unequal access to resources and distribution of those. The socio-economic situation in our society imposes this division of roles, reduced tolerance of abuse of power by men. The project will contribute to improving the position of women in the rural environment; they will gain wider perspective from and be empowered to take more active role in society.

The overall objective of the project is to promote gender equality in rural areas through cooperation with local self-government and the civil sector. Project specifically contributes to the promotion of gender equality and the position of women in Čoka.

The idea of the project is to organize and implement six one-day trips for women, three workshops for education of decoupage techniques, two meetings with a psychologist, one with a gynecologist, a doctor, a lawyer and women who lead a small economy and engaged in occupations that are not so represented by women. Within this 12-month long project, medical and gynecological examinations for women will be organized.
