Affinity™ air filter mediaSynthetic needlefelts for air filtration

Fiber Selection – selecting the appropriate fiber is often the first step in specifying a filter media and is critical to itsperformance. The selection process involves aligning the physical, chemical, and environmental criteria of the application with the fiber and fabric properties. This selection process often starts with the continuous operating temperature and chemical resistance requirements. See the table below for an overview of selected fiber properties.

Affinity™ air filter media includes a collection of high performance nonwoven needlefelts specifically designed for air filtration. Commonly used in the construction of dust collector filter bags, Affinity™ filter media effectively reduces particulate emissions from dust laden air through its engineered needlefelt design. With several synthetic fiber options to choose from, there is an Affinity™ filter media to fit a wide variety of industrial processes.Experienced Albarrie representatives are available for assistance in specifying a filter media suited to your application or to assist with new filter media designs.

Fabric Design – filter media design refers to how the fabric is constructed and can affect fabric properties and filtrationperformance. Affinity™ filter media is referred to as a nonwoven needlepunch fabric or needlefelt and is constructed through fiber entanglement via needlepunching with options that may include a woven fabric reinforcement (scrim), fiber blending, and layering.

Fabric Properties – refers to the physical and mechanical properties of the fabric, including but not limited to, fabricweight, density, tensile strength, burst strength, permeability, elongation, and shrinkage. Understanding the critical fabric properties and aligning them with the application is key to optimizing the performance and lifespan of filter media.

Affinity™ AS Anti-Static filter media

A highly efficient anti-static filter media constructed with an integrated layer of woven stainless-steel fibers to provide uniform conductivity. For use in applications prone to the build-up of static charge, this conductive fabric safely dissipates electrostatic charges safely when properly grounded to minimize the risk of explosion and/or dust retention on the media due to static charges. Available with polyester fibers in weights ranging from 14 to 16 oz/yd².

Affinity™ DD Duo-Density filter mediaDuo-Density filter media utilizes advanced fiber blending technology to combinemultiple fiber sizes into the matrix of the filter media. The blended fiber matrix increases the filtration surface area of the media and reduces pore sizes to increase filtration efficiency across a wide range of particle sizes while maintaining efficient air flows.Available in self-supported and scrim supported designs with polyester, PPS, and polyimide (P84®) fibers in weights ranging from 10 to 16 oz/yd2.

Release™ ePTFE membrane air filter media are constructed with a top layer of microporous and chemically inert ePTFE membrane, which is laminated to Affinity™ filter media. The membrane features consistent pore size, uniform pore distribution, very high chemical resistance and is inherently non-stick, which provides enhanced surface filtration and cake release. Release™ fabrics are available with polyester, PPS, aramid, and polyimide (P84®) filter fabrics.

Effective Surface FiltrationSurface filter media is designed to collect particles on its surface and shed them during cleaning cycles, unlike depth filtration where particles are designed to be captured within the media. The microporous structure of membrane is a highly effective surface filter due to its small and uniform pore size and superior release properties which minimizes the penetration of fine particulate and increases the cleanability of the filter. The result is high filtration efficiency of fine dusts and consistent pressure drop over time.

Release™ ePTFE membrane air filter media

Tandem™ composite air filter media combines a high-performance surface layer of P84® polyimide fibers with conventional filter media for enhanced filtration performance at a fraction of the cost.

The P84® top layer, with its multi-lobal fiber construction, provides higher surface area for effective surface filtration and dust cake formation while maintaining high airflow and low pressure drop across the media. The result is a highly efficient filter media with lower energy requirements and high capacity.

P84® fibers also offer high temperature resistance, good chemical resistance, and mechanical properties making them suitable for use in many applications. Tandem™ fabrics are available with polyester, acrylic, PPS, and aramid substrates.

Meteor™ Spark resistant air filter media

Meteor™ spark resistant filter media is an extremely robust filter media featuring a sturdy woven basalt reinforcement layer for superior mechanical stability and high temperature resistance. The basalt reinforcement layer is combined with standard filtration fibers such as polyester, PPS, aramid, polyoxidiazole or P84® through an intensive needlepunching process to produce this truly unique media.

Derived from volcanic rock, the basalt reinforcement layer is capable of withstanding very high temperatures and contact with sparks while also providing high abrasion resistance and excellent mechanical stability.

Meteor™ filter media is often used where other filter media has failed or to extend the lifespan of the filter bags. It is available with a range of standard finishes including ePTFE membrane lamination. Contact an Albarrie representative to see if Meteor® filter media is suitable for your application.

Cascade™ Liquid filter media

Cascade™ liquid filter media is the product of choice for many solid/liquid separation applications. These nonwoven needlefelts are typically constructed with supportive woven scrims depending on the intended application. A wide array of finishes are available for enhanced filtration performance, defined flow rates, and solids release.

Typical applications include belt filters, disc filters, pressure tube filters, rotary drum filters, filter presses, and candle filters.

Our experienced filter media experts are available to assist with media selection or a new media design to meet your specifications.
