T his month we wanted to share with you information about

lodges and camps who have true safari ‘Eco’ credentials.

Today, having good Eco credentials

has lost its ‘beard and sandals’

reputation of the past, its now rather

more sophisticated, its about having

low carbon footprints, reinvesting in

the local communities, using local

produce and building materials,

introducing water filtration and

waste management systems and of

course protecting nature’s most

precious resource; the wildlife.

Co-producers of the Africa’s Finest

book, Colin Bell & David Bristow

spent over 4 years researching,

categorising and of course

photographing those lodges who

don’t, as they say, just ‘Green Wash’,

but have a genuine passion for

conservation, sustainability, wildlife

and support of their community. So

along with a team of environmental

specialists, they applied a rigorous

criteria to the lodges thereby

creating their Top 50. We wont list

them all, but some of our favourites

across east & southern Africa.

Africa & Beyond have no stake in this book or

project, but if you wish to purchase a copy we

can point you in the right direction.
