The Airbus A320 The Airbus A320 is a short to medium range commercial passenger aircraft manufactured by Airbus. It was the first airliner with a digital fly-by-wire flight control system, where the pilot controls flight surfaces through the use of electronic signals rather than mechanically with pulleys and hydraulic systems.
After the initial success of the A300, Airbus targeted the market segment that was occupied by the 1960s designed Boeing 727 & 737. Airbus designed an aircraft with a fuel burn of only around 50% of the 727.
The A320 first flew in 1984 and was commercially launched in 1988. Unlike the earlier Airbus A300, it sold strongly from the outset and has been the fastest-selling airliner in the world for several years.
The A320 is perhaps best known as the first airliner to introduce a fly-by-wire flight control system - where control inputs from the pilot are transmitted to the flying surfaces by electronic signals rather than mechanical means. Apart from a small weight saving, the advantage of Airbus' fly-by-wire is that as it is computer controlled, an inbuilt flight envelope protection makes it virtually impossible to exceed certain flight parameters such as G limits and the aircraft's maximum and minimum operating speeds and angle of attack limits

Line Training Packages on Airbus A320 (300hr - 500hr packages) We are able to arrange line training to enable our students to get those vital ‘HOURS ON TYPE’. As you will be flying a passenger aircraft, safety is a big priority and being released to Line Training requires a student to meet high standards throughout the course. We would normally expect a student to have progressed well on the Type Rating course, and have achieved a good pass during all stages of the Type Rating Course, but specifically at the final Licence Skill Test (LST) in the simulator, and during Base Training in the Aircraft. Line training is currently available in Eastern Europe and the Far and Middle East. All of the packages include the following in the cost of the package:- Licence Endorsement if required by local state, Operator Conversion course, usually being 5 to 15 days of ground school, and ID passes. Options do vary but 300hr to 500hr line training packages are the normal, however we suggest that for most students the 300 hr package is appropriate, as this is a pre entry requirement for most airlines within Europe, and the 500hr package is generally suitable for those wishing to gain employment in the Far East including India. The current lead time to join a line training course varies and is dependant on the time of year and whether the airline has other commitments but 4 to 8 months is typical. Employment Opportunities Jet Flight & Instructor Training Ltd works closely with many Airlines, who look at all of our trainees with a view to employment, however it must be stressed that employment can never be guaranteed. When airlines are wishing to recruit they are looking for candidates that have performed well throughout all aspects of their course, this includes performance during Ground School, the simulator phase of training and Aircraft Base Training. We are also seeing an unprecedented demand for qualified European pilots from airlines outside of Europe including rapid expansion in the Asian and Eastern European markets at present.
