Curriculum Vitae - Allan Ahmad

Master in Public Administration and Work Life Studies with experience from political, professional and

development work.

I am skilled at understanding political processes and through the past ten years I have built up a strong

multidisciplinary profile within project management, communication, campaigning, political analysis, development

of strategies and organization. I am good at meeting people with different opinions and at facilitating discussion and

decision-making. I am analytically minded, fast at creating overview, good at relations and at creating space for

societal and business development.

WORK EXPERIENCE

2010 – Present Member of City Council – Copenhagen (Red-Green Alliance)

In constantly changing political agendas, my work consists of political prioritization, decision-making, handling

media, negotiations with political opponents, alliance partners, citizens, political support base and other

partners. Apart from my direct responsibility of the municipality’s service, budget and accounts, I am active in

political development such as the development of business politics for the Red-Green Alliance. I have particular

experience with culture politics and I have a great network in the culture and associational communities in

Copenhagen, throughout Denmark and specifically in the Nordic capitals at my disposal. I have also gained

great experience with the technical and environmental field, where urban development, accessibility, climate

adaptation and investment in infrastructure plays a major role.

2014 Business Development Assistant - Babcock & Wilcox Vølund

I have had a prominent role in opening options for the company to enter the Turkish market. I have

contributed to possibilities to build waste incineration facilities and biomass facilities to benefit the local energy

production. My work consisted in communicating knowledge on waste-to-energy technology to Turkish

partners and in generating an overview of the local needs, political connections, local and national business

partners and especially secure the support from the Turkish ministry of energy. Furthermore, I have

cooperated closely with Danish organizations such as CLEAN and State of Green and I have promoted the

products of Vølund.

EDUCATION

2005 – 2013 MSc in Social Science – Roskilde University

As a graduate in Public Administration and Work Life studies, I have focused on labour market conditions the

role of legislation. In my thesis ‘General application against Social Dumping’ I map the differences in labour

market policies in Danish and Norwegian legislation and analyse the different approaches of the labour market

partners to the incorporation of collective agreement in legislation. Through my studies at Roskilde University, I

have gained strong competences in cooperation, and the ability to identify the core of different problems and

to solve tasks determinedly through interdisciplinary collaboration.

requests from citizens.

VOLUNTARY WORK

2004 – 2005 Operation Dagsværk

Managing of a national campaign and fundraising for an educational project in Central America. Development

of teaching material in Social Studies and Danish, and production of a campaign movie on conditions for

children in Kyrgyzstan.

LANGUAGES Danish - English - Kurdish - Arabic

Apart from being able to work in Danish and English, I am fluent in Kurdish and Arabic, oral as well as written.

PRIVAT I am born in Kurdistan/Iraq. I moved to Denmark as 14 year old in 1998 as a political refugee. In 2011 I founded

a collective in Nørrebro, where I live today with four friends. I am great company, socially outgoing and I often

organize my friends for a good meal. I enjoy watching football and playing football on an amateur level for my

favorite team BK Frem.
