On March 2nd, LAVC President Sue Carleo hosted the first President’s Circle Luncheon
in the Fireside Room.
The President’s Circle is a membership of leadership giving that provides much needed unrestricted donations to the LAVC Foundation. These funds allow the Founda-tion to address the immediate needs of the college and may distribute funds scholar-ships or different college programs or pro-
jects.
Twenty-eight individuals and organizations joined the President’s Circle, which is in it’s first year and forty-eight people attended the luncheon. Each guest proudly wore their President’s Circle lapel pin and were encour-aged to recruit new members for the mem-
bership campaign next year. Foundation President Jason Schaff said, “this is a terrific turnout for the Circle’s first ever luncheon. It is a great reflection of the generous support
of Valley College friends.”
Many members of the President’s Circle are also part of the local business community. All members will be listed and recognized in the May issue of the San Fernando Valley Busi-ness Journal, the Foundation’s Annual Donor
Wall, and the Annual Report.
For information about joining the President’s Circle for the 2010/2011 fiscal year, please call (818) 947-2618, or you may visit
www.lavcfoundation.org and join online.

Industrial Metal Supply (IMS) President Neil Sherman established four $1,000 scholarships to benefit Los Angeles Valley College stu-
dents who are in its Machine Shop program or studying Engineering.
Industrial Metal Supply and Valley College have a mutually beneficial relationship. A number of Valley College students who have been trained in the Machine Shop program have become employees of Industrial Metal Supply. The Machine Shop program at Valley Col-lege has been long respected by the manufacturing industry in the San Fernando Valley. It provides a valuable source of skilled workers
for many companies.

19th Annual LAVC Golf Tournament
The 19th Annual LAVC Golf Tournament is scheduled on May 8, 2010 at Elkins Ranch Golf Course in Fillmore, California. The tour-nament, which is hosted by members of the LAVC Maintenance & Operations Department, was originally established the event to
memorialize LAVC friends who passed away.
In recent years, the golf tournament has been able to raise funds that have benefited different athletic programs. This year, pro-ceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the LAVC Athletic En-dowment. The Endowment was established last year with a goal to raise $100,000 in the next four years. So far, over $28,000 has
been received and pledged and this event will add to the effort.

An array of possibilities exists at Los Angeles Valley College for donors interested in various naming opportunities. Financial requirements differ, and donors are encouraged to discuss their interest with Raul Castillo, Executive Director of Valley College’s Foundation. A named gift opportunity sends a strong message to our students and people living in the surrounding community that an individual, business, or organization is committed to the college’s effort to provide quality,
accessible education and training to all who can benefit from our programs and
services.
Over the next three years, Valley College will build a number of new buildings and refurbish existing ones. Other buildings and facilities still available for naming opportunities include Allied Health and Science, Main-tenance and Operations, Student Services Center, and the track and field stadium. Garden areas in the Art
District, Monarch Square, and the South Campus are also available. Your name, company’s name, or the name of someone you wish to honor or memorialize can be appropriately
recognized.
We invite you to consider these opportunities and help Valley College address current needs and prepare for
the any future challenges.
For more information, please contact
Raul Castillo at (818) 947-2618.
