Letter fromLetter fromLetter fromthe Mayorthe Mayorthe Mayor
I don’t know how you feel, but in Rosemont, we are waving goodbye to a very long winter and welcoming the warmth and sunshine of spring.
Many of you – some who work or live in Rosemont and others who come to visit us often – write in and call, asking us when we will begin planting the owers that enhance the highway embankments, major arteries and public parks of Rosemont.
Though we would love to put them on display today, we are still more than a month away from planting season. The full displays will be in the ground in May.
In the meantime, we have just installed an attractive new series of street banners that depict life in Rosemont. They are visible along the major arteries that pass through town in-cluding the areas around the entrances of our major business, sports, entertainment and recreation venues.
There are seven different designs in the series, speci cally calling attention to:
• Our premier tradeshow and meeting facility – the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center; the Rosemont Theatre, which is often the top choice of theatrical producers and promoters for presenting their Broadway shows, concerts and entertainment acts that come to the Chicago area;
• the Allstate Arena, Pollstar‘s #2 top arena in the U.S.A.;• Rosemont’s world famous water tower, on Higgins and River
roads;• the De Paul University Blue Demons (NCAA Division 1
men’s basketball);• the Chicago Wolves (AHL hockey), the Chicago Sky (Chicago
WNBA franchise) who will make the Allstate arena their home next season;
• the beautiful waterfall in Monument Park on Higgins and River roads;
• and fi nally, a design of some tempting cuisine, entitled, “Taste the Difference,” heralding Rosemont’s entire fi ne dining establishments.
When you are passing through Rosemont, keep your eye on the road, rst and foremost. But when you get that car parked, look up at our attractive new banner displays along our streets and byways.
We hope you don’t just drive through Rosemont, though. Our doors are open and the welcome signs are there just for you. Whether you live or work here, whether you are a frequent visi-tor or a commuter who normally just passes through the village, or if you are total stranger and not at all familiar with Rose-
mont, it doesn’t matter: You have an open invitation to spend a weekend get-away at any of our top quality hotels, to relax and dine in any of our comfortable restaurants and ne dining establishments, to attend any of the shows, events or sports at the Stephens Center, Allstate Arena and Rosemont Theatre, to stop by and tour our newly renovated Rosemont Health & Fitness Club and nally, to enjoy our beautiful parks.
We are waving a different kind of banner at the Donald E, Stephens Convention and Conference Center, the Allstate Arena and the Rosemont Theatre. It has been a banner year so far at these facilities, where our staff members have been welcoming record crowds and sold-out events at their venues.
Major attractions are listed in the March calendar in this issue. All the information you will need to plan your visit is right here in Rosemont. There are so many opportunities for fun and relaxation this month that I will be practicing what I preach right away, making plans for my own family’s activi-ties this month.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Village of Rose-mont, Illinois. Together, we will shake off that winter chill and warm up for all there is to see and do here in Rosemont.

By Christopher R. StephensDonald E. StephensConvention Center
Thank you!It has been
a very busy winter at the Donald E. Stephens Con-vention and Conference Center. Just last month, we welcomed ve major trade and/or pub-lic shows to the Stephens Center.
We thank all of our friends and patrons who fought off the temptation to hole up during this winter -- that – just -- won’t -- end.
Thank you for breaking out, nding the fun and interest-ing thing to do. We like to think some of those fun times were spent with us, here, in Rose-mont, Illinois.
We like to think that we set the stage for setting records, at least we did last month.
It’s been as hot as the Carib-bean in the Stephens Center– in terms of the popularity of last month’s shows and exhibits that many of you attended here.
In fact, I am proud to report that last month’s schedule of events attracted the largest number of guests ever at the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center.
Everyone could feel the excite-ment and enthusiasm consis-tently throughout each day the shows were open.
We are particularly proud of our staff and everyone who works at the Stephens Center for the outstanding accom-plishments they made here, in terms of both the quality and the quantity of the work they accomplished. We thank each and every one of them, but they can’t rest yet. Just like every-thing in the spring, the events and shows that are scheduled for March may produce many more.
We are expecting a large at-
tendance at America’s premier custom car show, O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels Show, Friday, March 5 – Sunday, March 7, where every attendee will likely have the opportunity to see their all-time favorite model of car, or even many of their favorites from different times in their lives, and al that has to do with custom cars.
As much as Americans love custom cars, they love sports and everything having to do with team sports, athletes, sports celebrities, sports clubs and sport collectibles; they will nd all these and some their favorite sports stars at the Sun-Times Sports Collectors Show, Friday, April 19 – Sunday, April 21. This show does a fantastic job of attracting a huge number of collectible dealers, plus many appearances by the most popu-lar and the most accomplished athletes.
Travel and Adventure Show is sure to be popular, due to the huge increase of popularity in extreme sports, just featured in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games that were just presented. It will be open for one day only, Saturday, March 20 - Sunday, March 21.
More detailed information about each one of the March events and many additional concerts, games and activities, please look at the March Events column and calendar.
We look forward to welcoming many of you back to Rosemont, and to the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center.
For those of you who have not yet attended a Rosemont event or tried the cuisine at a local restaurant, because the only thing we like more than making new friends, is welcoming back those whom we have known and served for many years.
The best part is when we thank you for being a fan of all there is to see and do in Rose-mont, Illinois.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, and may you have a great start to a beautiful new season.

Though Marketing Innova-tors now employs a staff of more than 50, with several locations across the United States, from Day One, the company has been based in Rosemont. LeMenager says she chose Rosemont for its very central location, proxim-ity to the airport, easy access to downtown Chicago.

International Quilt Festival brings together displays,exhibitions, educational seminars & more
Quilters, assemble!
At the heart of any of the world’s most successful meet-
ing, tradeshows and convention facilities, is its master calendar and schedule which holds the facility’s most important infor-mation that could directly affect the success of any event. It may sound like a simple process, but there is nothing about it that’s easy. Dozens of factors can af-fect a show – from weather to the economy to industry-speci c in uencers. As the old saying goes, timing is everything.
One of the brightest most colorful marks that appears, every year, on the giant mas-
ter calendar and schedule that serves the Donald E. Stephens
Convention and Conference Center, indicates that a very special reservation has been con rmed, speci cally, for one major weekend in April. That one small marker is the mas-ter switch that sets myriad plans into motion, in order to welcome more than 20,000 exhibitors, attendees and other participants, from locations throughout the U.S.A. and from all over the world, including New Zea-land, Australia, Sin-gapore, Japan, and Switzerland, to meet at the Stephens Center and celebrate one of largest trade-shows and conven-tions of its kind –the International Quilt Festival/Chicago
2010, produced by Quilts, Inc.
The Stephens Center staff and the staff of Quilts, Inc., work to-gether as a uni ed team, begin-ning at least a year in advance to ensure that the collection of quilts on display include the rarest, most beautiful and most valuable pieces from every era and many locations.
In Rosemont, the staff of the Stephens Center, is always ex-cited to see, visit and work with the many good friends whom staff members have gotten to know, through the years, as well as welcome the newcomers to the amazing displays, exhibi-tions, educational sessions and additional activities that com-prise the vast International Quilt Festival.
It may be no coincidence that the annual return of the robin coincides with the return of the quilters. While the birds ea-gerly search for their building supplies and start assembling their nest homes, quilters can’t wait to start combing the aisles of the festival, in serious pur-suit of a new designer pattern or a beautiful traditional fabric. Many determined quilters man-

The expanse of the show ac-commodates so many exhibits, displays, presentations and educational events that quilters enter with con dence, expecting to nd that one unique item or idea that they haven’t been able to acquire anywhere else. They know that their treasured dis-covery will be the key to making a treasured creation unique and truly special.
The special quilt exhibit, that is the highlight of every show for many visitors, will be con-veniently located in the same hall with the booths, so that interested crowds are assured throughout the show.
Quilting festival participants will have the opportunity to learn all kinds of new A B C’s of their craft by taking advan-tage of two very inviting E’s: Education and Entertainment will provide the bait that will entice hundreds of eager stu-dents to the sewing classes that initiate the entire quilting curriculum, kick-off on Thurs-day night, April 15; those who expect to be ready to celebrate and party Thursday evening, won’t need to venture farther than the Stephens Conference Center, where revelers will be offered everything from lively cocktails to sophisticated wines, delectable samples of the n-est cuisine from Rosemont’s top, world-famous restaurants, musical entertainment and good times at the International Quilt Festival/Chicago 2010 Preview Party, from 5 PM – 9 PM.
The entire festival, includ-ing all of its special exhibits, celebrity appearances, educa-tional offerings, presentations, booth displays and much more, will begin at 10 AM, on Friday, April 16, and continue until 3 PM, on Sunday, April 18, when
the entire production will close. Friday’s 10 AM opening time will be repeated on Saturday, April 17, and Sunday, April 18. The show’s hours on Friday and Saturday (the busiest days) will extend to 7 PM each night.
The International Quilt Festi-val/Chicago 2010, will command the attention of all those who are devoted to the craft and its realization in art, its historical development, the evolution of modern design, and, of course, the myriad materials and sup-plies that comprise everything that is about quilting. When quilt and quilting devotees ar-rive at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, their atten-tion will be captured instantly, by an exhibition and show so all-encompassing, that it utiliz-es nearly the entire center (just under one million square feet):
The latest fabrics, threads, supplies and materials and, break-through patterns will be exhibited;
The special quilt display that includes some of the most valu-able quilts on public display and many other unique items will be exhibited;
an educational schedule that is unabated and stretches from the very beginning to the very end of a celebratory weekend featuring the craft‘s most re-nowned experts, artists and celebrities.
For thousands returning quilt a cionados, the familiar sound of a unison sweep, when the Stephens Center’s main doors open, signals much more than ready access to the center. The International Quilt Festival/Chicago 2010, offers the oppor-tunity to practice the craft of quilting to the max.
For more information, visit www.quilts.com, or call the Donald E. Stephens Conven-tion and Conference Center at 857.692.2220.
