3 Very spacious houses Delightful country location Close to coast at Lyme Regis Extensive grounds Detached Carriage House

Woodhouse is a substantial detached Victorian house (1879) - a gentleman’s residence for the Prescott family who owned it until 1983 when it became a care home. The property is now vacant and splits very easily into 3 spacious houses. They will be offered for sale with services laid on (water and electricity) and there is already a private treatment plant for drainage. The vendors will also provide the vertical subdividing walls between each house. Each purchaser will be acquiring a large residential property which can be refurbished and fitted out to their own taste (subject to Local Authority consent). It is a Grade II Listed building. The principal elevations are faced in dressed stone up to first floor level with tile hanging above and decorative Stucco panels. The main house also features a three storey tile-hung porch resting on carved posts and attractive window bay. In the 1980’s a spacious new wing was added with walls and roof matching the original (dressed stone and tile hanging) and this is Unit 3. In addition to the above is a detached cottage (The Carriage House) which at present is converted to 3 small flats. This is to be restored back to a single residential property by the purchaser. Woodhouse enjoys a parkland setting amidst the beautiful unspoilt countryside of the Lym Valley. It is approached via a long tarmacadam roadway off the B3165 Lyme Road and then through substantial wrought iron gates on stone pillars with secure entry system. On the upper side of the house there is vehicular access to Woodhouse Fields above which is the Pinetum (a mature woodland managed by the Woodland Trust).

In the vicinity are lovely country walks and bridleways. In the village of Uplyme (about 3/4 mile away) is a good range of facilities including village stores and post office at the petrol station, excellent village hall, highly regarded pri-mary school, pub, parish church, cricket and football clubs and a thriving community spirit. The coast at Lyme Regis is only 2 miles or so and Axminster (4 miles approx.). Lyme Regis is a picturesque coastal town noted for its many character buildings, century’s old Cobb Harbour and un-spoilt surrounding countryside. The town centre provides good shopping facilities for day to day needs and the larger centres of Taunton and Exeter are both about 28 miles away. There is a main line railway station at Axminster (6 miles in-land). In Lyme Regis there is also a sailing club, bowls, golf course, theatre, cinema and numerous local societies. The town is situated on the beautiful and unspoilt Devon and Dorset ‘Jurassic Coast’ awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO in December 2001.
