Analysing and Improving
• Pick your best sport.• Write down 3 things you do well in that sport
and 3 things you don´t do so well.– You might write about fitness aspects, skills, or
social aspects– Examples could include being fast, being accurate
with shooting, having a high scoring/tackling rate, cooperating well with team members, etc.
Analysing and Improving Task
Coursework – 50% Nota 4
What is it?
• This coursework is for you to show you understand your best sport.
• In simple terms, you are required to look at the performance of someone in that sport and identify good and bad elements of performance.
Introduction• State your sport• State the name of the person you are writing
about – it could be yourself or a classmate• Describe that person´s role in the activity – are
they a goalkeeper? A forward? A mid-fielder?– E.g. what is their main job in the game - is it to
score goals? To stop the opposition from scoring?• List all the skills you need to be able to do to
play this sport (even the simple ones).
Strengths
• Pick 3 strengths of the performer. These might be:– Fitness components– Skills– Part of their teamwork, etc.
• How do these strengths help them to be a good performer in this sport?– Explain in as much detail as possible.– What is it they do that makes them good at it?– How do you know that they are good at it?
Weaknesses
• Pick 3 weaknesses.• How do these cause problems for the
performer as a player? For the team?– If talking about skills or technique, what do they
do wrong?– Explain in as much detail as possible what they
don´t do very well and how this affects their performance.
Improvements
• Explain practices/training that can be done to improve your weaknesses.– E.g. To improve passing, explain (using diagrams
where it may be helpful) a passing drill.
Factors Affecting Performance
• Physiological• Psychological• Social
• How can the above affect performance in your sport?
• Answer in general terms but also consider the performer and anything that affects them.
Training programme
• Design a 6 week training programme for your sport.
• The training programme should aim to improve an aspect of performance (ideally related to one of your weaknesses).
• You can focus on improving fitness, skills or another aspect of performance.
Training Programme• You need to state an aim/objective of the
training programme– What is your training programme trying to
improve. BE SPECIFIC.• Pick 2 training methods to use• You need to refer to the training principles of
FITT and SPORT when designing and writing about your training programme.
• What things need to be considered when designing a training programme?

Remember…
• This is 50% of your Nota 4. That is 20% of your overall PE marks this semester.
• Therefore, it is something that you need to spend time on – it is not something you can complete in half an hour!
• The more detail the better.• You can hand this in to your teacher as many
times as you want before the deadline.
