Young Scientist Award. NGS joint Imperial-NUS PhD scholar Sharon Chang was 2nd Prize winner of the Poster and

Lecture prize for Industrial Relevance awards at the Imperial College Postgraduate Research day 2013.

NGS PhD scholar Wong Swee Liang was selected in an international competition to attend the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany, in July 2012.

MSc graduate Yong Chaw Keong was awarded the David Ryan Prize for 2011 for distinguished work by a second year research student in Condensed Matter Physics, Oxford University; awarded Young Scientist Award from EMRS 2013 (Ultrafast Carrier Dynamics in Organic-Inorganic Semiconductor Nanostructures)

PhD student Qi Dongchen was awarded the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad, 2009.

Teo NUS High School students Si Hong Bo & Tian Wei, supervised by Chen Shi, Dr Gao Xingyu & Prof Andrew Wee won a Bronze Medal at the 2009 Singapore Science & Engineering Fair (SSEF). Their project was entitled “Structure Analysis of Graphene Formation on SiC Substrate”.

M.Sc. student Zhang Hongliang was awarded the Graduate Researcher Award 2008, Faculty of Science NUS.

PhD student Qi Dongchen won the Student Award for Best Presentation at Diamond 2007; awarded the Graduate Researcher Award 2007, Faculty of Science NUS.

PhD student Zheng Yi won the Silver medal at the second Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) research competition 2007. His submitted project was entitled: “Electrical Characterization of Metal HfO2-SiO2-Si MOS Structures by Ballistic Electron Emission Spectroscopy”

Two Raffles Institution students, Khoo Seng Teck and Teo Cal-vin, supervised by Prof A Wee and Dr Wang Li won a Silver Medal at the 2007 Singapore Science & Engineering Fair (SSEF). Their project was entitled “Near-edge X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (NEXAFS) investigation of X-ray irradiation damage to oligonucleotides”.

Ph.D. student Chung Hong Jing was awarded the Graduate Researcher Award 2006, Faculty of Science NUS.

Former MSc student Ms Ghim-Wei Ho has won the photo competition held at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge in 2004. Ghim Wei is now a PhD student working for Professor Mark Welland, at the Cambridge Nanoscience Centre.

Ph.D. student Alfred Chong Yung Fu was awarded the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Electron Devices Society Graduate Student Fellowship for 2002.
