AGS SALUTES THE 45 GRADUATES IN THE CLASS OF 2020 WHO WERE ACCEPTED TO 130 DIFFERENT COLLEGES AND WERE AWARDED MORE THAN $750,000 IN GRANTS, EXCLUDING FINANCIAL AID AND HOPE SCHOLARSHIPS

Dear AGS Friends and Families,

As we began the first day of the 2019-2020 school year, with our annual opening assembly, I revealed the theme for the year—All of Life is a Journey taken from our Founder’s Charge! We certainly could not have anticipated that we would be finishing our academic year from a distance. Nevertheless, with your continued support, we continued to fulfill our mission of Inspiring Girls to Lead Lives of Purpose by providing a curriculum that continued to integrate critical thinking and problem-solving solutions through a robust Distance Learning Program. We applauded the success of the 45 young women who comprised the Class of 2020 on their wonderful accomplishments. These confident and successful young women secured over $750,000 in scholarships and grants to the over 130 colleges where they were accepted.

I am thrilled to share that the AGS community (including families, friends, alumnae, faculty/staff, Trustees, foundations, and corporations) came together to contribute a total of $666,630 toward the success of the 2019-2020 school year. My charge to the AGS community members during this year was to enjoy the journey and focus less on getting to the destination by embracing the unknown, the learning and newness of the journey. I sincerely appreciate that you have committed to be a part of this journey with us, for every student at Atlanta Girls’ School. This theme has not only

allowed us to reflect on the purposeful journey the school has taken over the past two decades, it has also required of us to consider carefully the journey we seek to impact for years to come. And what a journey it has been. Empathy, cultural competence, and resilience are essential elements that inform meaningful perspectives and experiences. AGS continues to shape authentic and compassionate young women who are reflective and eager to lead lives of purpose.

Although our doors were closed for the latter part of Spring, our school remained very much opened and our girls continued to display resiliency as they discovered that all of life is school, whether it be on campus or virtually through technology. Their continued learning underscores the importance of, and possibilities afforded by, your generous gifts to AGS. We thank you for your support and partnership in the Atlanta Girls’ School journey as an integral member of this community!

Cheers,YanniAyanna Hill-GillAGS Head of School

annual report2 0 1 9 - 2 0 2 0 annual fundC A M P A I G NThe AGS community has a strong tradition of supporting the Annual Fund. We are grateful to the more than 450 donors who contributed to Atlanta Girls’ School during the 2019-2020 school year. Each year, the annual fund secures much needed funds for the school, making up 10% of the school’s budget.

The Annual Fund impacts every area of campus such as the enhancement of signature programs, professional development for faculty, STEAM programming athletics, athletic and arts support, and financial aid. In particular, the technology we had prior allowed our students and teachers to pivot quickly and adapt to virtual learning throughout COVID 19. Through the generosity of our many donors, each girl receives a stellar education where she can be her authentic self, and prepare to lead a life of purpose.

Atlanta Girls’ School’s annual spring fundraiser was expected to raise $200,000 to support the 2019-20 annual fund. In light of the COVID-19 global crisis and its significant impact on the nation’s economy, the school cancelled the event and changed its fundraising strategy to recoup as much of the event’s anticipated. We were met with a $20,000 challenge gift and during our community celebration and day of giving on May 5, 2020, we exceed the goal. We were touched to see people from throughout our special community come together through social media and email in celebration of Atlanta Girls’ School’s 20 years of inspiring girls to lead lives of purpose.

This fund is at the core of the AGS student experience, providing vital funding for dynamic educational programming, continued teacher training and the technology that allowed us to pivot so quickly to distance learning. AGS is a special community, and we often reflect on how fortunate our students are to have such a supportive group of adults cheering them on and making their school experience so meaningful. The virtual day of giving celebration was a wonderful example of this circle of support.
