SCHOOL PROFILE 2017-2018 ACCREDITATION Cathedral is accredited by the State of Indiana, the Indepen- dent Schools Association of the Central States, and the North Central Association. ENROLLMENT There are 1,180 students (595 males and 585 females) in grades 9 through 12 from Marion County and its seven sur- rounding counties. Students attended approximately 155 different schools before entering Cathedral. Of the 1,180 students, 29 percent are students of color and 73 percent are Catholic. FACULTY 92 faculty members have an average of 19.6 years of teach- ing experience, with the majority holding advanced degrees. With a student-teacher ratio of 12:8, a highly personalized approach to learning is maintained. The average class size is 17.6 students.

Cathedral offers 28 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and a full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma as well as IB certificates in many subjects.

Grading Scale and GPAThe grade point average is computed by dividing the total grade points each semester by the number of classes taken which carry grade points. Courses not taken at Cathedral High School are not included in this computation. The honors and academic courses, which are significantly more demanding, are weighted (see right).

Academics

Cathedral’s new Learning Resource Center (LRC) incorporating our renowned Language Support Program (LSP) is designed to meet the needs of bright, college-bound students with diagnosed learning differences such as ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, and autism-spectrum disorder.

There are 11 academic departments providing more than 200 course offerings. Three instructional levels are offered—honors, academic and college prepara-tory—as well as honors-level independent study in nearly all disciplines.

AP Exams: 381 students took 777 Advanced Placement exams. 61.2 percent earned a score of 3 or higher.

IB Exams: Over the past two years, 160 IB exams administered, and 108 earned a passing rate (4 or higher).
