We want to welcome you to The Alpha Omega Con, the !rst and last in Christian pop culture conventions. The Christian Comic Arts Society, founded in 1984, has had a Christian presence at Comic Con International: San Diego, WonderCon, The Tuscon Comic Con, and The Phoenix Comicon. And after 17 years handing out thousands of gospel tracts, giving out Bibles, praying for attendees, and hosting Spiritual Themes in Comics, Sunday services and mixers, it was time for the CCAS to host a Christian themed, faith based, family-friendly convention. Many people have volunteered many hours to put on the event. It is the love of Christ and the love of all things geeky that unites us. It is those two loves that has united the members of the CCAS. Where dominations seem to divide those who love Christ, it has been that love of all things geeky that has torn down those walls and brought us together. In this culture it seems that Christianity and comic books are an oxymoron. For years, Christians who attended the various comic book conventions, thought they were the only ones, meaning the only Christians who loved comic books. Then they came to the CCAS table were shocked to discover that there were other Christians who were comic book geeks. And even after 17 years there are still Christian who come to the table never knowing there are others like them. Some of the slogans of the CCAS over the years were “I thought I was the only one” and “The CCAS: Bringing the fun back into fundamentalism.”

However, none of this would have been possible if not for the vision and perseverance of the founder of the CCAS, Don Ensign. His biggest desire was to bring together Christians, men and women who love God, and also happen to enjoy comic books. This desire led the formation of the CCAS in 1984. In 1985 he published the !rst issue of Alpha Omega, a bi-monthly amateur press associa-tion publication, that serves as a paper blog for Christian comic book commu-nity, continues to be published to this day. The CCAS has grown to include a website that boasts over 1,400 members. His vision for the CCAS was to be a light for Christ in the comic book arena and bring Christian fans of the medium together for fellowship and networking.

WELCOME TO THE ALPHA OMEGA CON!

Through the CCAS lifelong friendships have developed, members have collabo-rated to produce and publish their own comic books, and the love of Christ has been demonstrated by the love that has been shared among the members. For several years Don had been battling with prostate cancer. During that time he continued to be a consistent and productive contributor to the Alpha Omega apa-zine and other publishing ventures. Don felt that the Alpha Omega Con is the next step of growth and outreach for the CCAS. His premier character, the Golden Protector is the central character in Alpha Omega Con promotional piece. On March 19th, 2014 Don Ensign passed from this life on earth into his eternal glory with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As believers, those who loved him know that we will see him again, but he is missed. Lord willing, the CCAS will continue his vision. It is our prayer that this event foster a sense of family among the attendees and exhibitors, and that the community will see Christ in the love expressed among us who call Him our Lord and Savior.

There are so many people to thank who helped in the organization of this event. We wish to thank the Redeemer Church of La Mirada and Hilltop Christian Fellowship for enthusiastically hosting this !rst time event. We thank those of you who have come to show your support by attending this con. But most importantly we want to thank the God of our Savior, Jesus Christ, for His grace that has been showered upon us; that has given us the privilege to host this event. Jesus Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.” Number 6:24-26.

In Christ,

The Alpha Omega Convention Committee
