The heart of this day care centre is the high-ceilinged common room – the building’s interior market square – with glass sections toward the south-facing terrace/playground and the west-facing green area. From the common room there is access to all the func-tions of the building. The facade is covered with red aluminium sheets, while the interior has painted walls and ceilings with acoustic regulation and linoleum/vinyl flooring. The day care centre is constructed of prefab sections joined together on site. Each section is a stable construction in itself, constructed around a steel frame and resting on spot footing.Environmental features include percolation of rainwater through open paving, optimisation of daylight influx combined with necessary sun screening, flexibility in the design and use of rooms, utilisation of sunlight through skylights and the use of recyclable materials.

A-huset (the A-House) is a former industrial building, constructed in 1960 by architect Thorvald Dreyer, which now after its reno-vation contains ten shops and some 200 furnished and serviced flats. The old facade of the building has been removed completely and replaced by a new transparent glass facade with bronzed aluminium profiles. In the interior of the building the existing construction has been left virtually untouched. The roof is designed as a 4000-m2 landscape with mountains, meadows and decking. The landscape is draped like a tablecloth over the seven mountains, each representing a penthouse flat. A total of 13 stair towers lead up to the roof-top landscape. The emphasis has been on creating a complex residential environment with great variation in the types and sizes of homes.

ARKITEKTUR dk is Scandinavia’s biggest journal
of architecture (published since 1957).
ARKITEKTUR dk depicts the general lines of new
Danish architecture and keeps readers up to date with
the best of it. This is why the magazine is used as a source of
inspiration by projecting architectural drawing offices planning new
buildings. ARKITEKTUR dk provides portraits of Danish architectu-
ral drawing offices at regular intervals, and focuses on new house
building, administration,
business and industrial buildings, sports buildings, museum, chur-
ches, city spaces, restoration and
renovation, all essential elements in creating good architecture.
ARKITEKTUR dk is also the window to the outside world for the
Danish building trade. One third of the circulation is distributed
abroad. The text of the magazine is in Danish and English. It
is important for advertisers to choose the proper marketing
media. Obtain the best return for your advertising money. Use
