FIRST YEAR REQUIRED COURSES PREREQS 16 CREDITS

*IMPORTANT: ARH 208 can be taken in lieu of ARH 204, 205 or 206 (one of the three) if the student’s focus area in Art History is Asian Studies. (This only applies to Art History majors.)

SECOND, THIRD, & FOURTH YEAR REQUIRED COURSES PREREQS 32 CREDITS

**IMPORTANT: one must be non-western and at least one must be an Art History seminar (ARH 407 or ARH 449).

Track 1 – Art History/Critical Analysis

Four (4) additional courses (16 credit hours) in art history including at least one additional seminar (thus you will need at least one ARH 407 and also ARH 449/559 Methods in Art History). In addition Students will take one of the following:

ART 111 Design Thinking 4 credits

ART 182 Idea & Form 4 credits

Track 2 – Art History/Art Practices

ART 115 Two-Dimensional Design 4 credits

ART 117 Three-Dimensional Design 4 credits

ART 131 Intro to Drawing I 4 credits

Take the three courses above (12 credits) then pick one of the following emphasis areas and complete two courses in the area as listed below. Two (2) 200-level studio art courses in one focus area totaling 8 credits.

ART 230 and 250 Drawing Art 115 & 131 8 credits

ART 281 and 282 Painting Art 115, 117 & 131 8 credits

ART 271 and 270 Printmaking Art 115 & 131 8 credits

ART 260 and 261 Photography 8 credits

ART 291 and 292 Sculpture Art 117 8 credits

ART 227 and 327 Social Practice 8 credits

ART 119 and one of the following: Art 257, 255, or 256

Time Arts Art 115 & 119 8 credits

Track 3 – Art History/Graphic Design

ART 115 Two-Dimensional Design 4 credits

ART 118 Intro to Type & Comm. Design Art 115 4 credits

ART 120 Computer Graphics for Art & Design Art 115 or Art 100 4 credits

Take the three courses above (12 credits) then pick two (2) of the following 200-level graphic design courses to total 8 credits:
