GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS This is the most widespread phylum of our

planet. It includes terrestrial animals (spiders, insects,etc..) and aquatic animals (crabs, prawns, etc…).

Their body is divided into segments assembled in a variety of ways.

The body it is covered by a rigid and articulate exoskeleton composes of different pieces that fit together, this allows arthropods to move.

They have complex systems, like specialized sense organs or respiratory systems with gills or tracheas.

They reproduce sexually through eggs and some undergo , a process of metamorphosis.

CLASSIFICATION

Chelicerates, have appendages that are called chelicerae. Chelicerates include arachnids(like spiders, scorpions and mites) and other groups. Like all arthropods, chelicerates have semented bodies. Most have 4 pairs of walking legs. Most members of the group are terrestrial.

Mandibulates, can bite, suck, chew, ect. They are classified into crustaceans, myriapods, insects.

- -Crustaceans: They are aquatic and they breathe through gills.

- - Myriapods: They have a head and a body.

- -Insects: Their body is divided into head, thorax and abdomen.

SPECIES OF EACH GROUPCHELICERATES:

Species for ARACHNIDS:

- - Spider: Spiders are air-breathing arthropods that have eight legs. Spiders are ancient animals. They are abundant insects.

MANDIBULATES:

Species for CRUSTACEANS:

-Shrimps.:Shrimp are widespread and abundant. They can be found feeding near the seafloor on most coasts.

Species for MYRIAPODS:

-Centipedes: They are animals with one pair of legs per body segment. They have a rounded or flattener head.

Species of INSECTS:

-Butterflies: Butterflies have large, often brightly coloured wings. In their adult stage, they can live from a weed to nearly a year depending on the species.

Likewise, the relationships between various arthropod groups are still actively debated.

Arthropods contribute to the human food supply both directly as food, and more importantly as pollinators of crops. Some specific species are known to spread severe disease to humans, livestock, and crops.
