I am a person who despises clutter, and this shows in my design style. White space, straight lines and simplicity are what characterizes my skills. I create bold designs that are beautiful, original, and limitless. Graphic design has always been my passion. Introduced to design at the age of 12 by my mother’s friend, I have been designing ever since. I love type, and with hard work and dedication, I continue to pursue designs that are cohesive and relate to the subject matter. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and quiet times at the beach or pool. One thing that I love to do is always learn how to do something new. I have learned never to compare my work because “Comparison is the theft of all joy”, as quoted by Lisa Nicholos.

Hannah’s Heart, a women’s conference, needed an inexpensive logo design. Utilizing only two colors, jade and orange, and adding a playful font enabled the tree to pop by combining the fonts Briar Rose Regular, Graceful, Catalina Anacapa Slab, and Catalina Anacapa Sans. Because the conference was entitled From Barrenness to Fruitfulness, I developed a tree that showed one side barren and another side producing fruit. This women’s conference targeted women of all ages and young girls from the ages 9 -16 years old. The logo is applied through several deliverables:• Poster• Bookmarks• Stickers• Agenda• Speakers Info Fun Fact• Name Tags• Registration Cards

LOGO design

Honoring the 75th Anniversary of the Wizard of OZ, a timeless movie, I incorporated multiple images by using Photoshop to manipulate and create a movie poster that has a twenty first century design.

MOVIE POSTER

This original ad for Savannah State University was very wordy, lacked color and was therefore ineffective. By utilizing the school colors, royal blue and orange, and adding current photographs of happy, successful students; the focus is bought to the important information.

Sickle Cell Anemia is a disease affecting mostly African Americans. In order to bring awareness, Spark was created in honor of Ashton Brabham, a local child who suffers from this illness. Spark is a foundation in the Lowcountry area that helps families and individuals living with Sickle Cell disease. The goals for the Spark foundation is to educate on how to manage the disease, improving the quality of health, and striving to find ways to raise money to aid in discovering a cure for Sickle Cell disease. Achieving a successful logo design for Spark made it versatile to apply the logo through several deliverables. WHAT YOUNEED TO KNOW ABOUT

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a group of inherited red blood cell disorders. Healthy red blood cells are round and they move through small blood vessels to carry oxygen to all parts of the body. In someone who has SCD, the red blood cells become hard, sticky and look like a C-shaped farm tool called a “sickle”. The sickle cells die early, which causes a constant shortage of red blood cells. Also, when they travel through small blood vessels they get stuck and clog the blood flow. This can cause pain and other serious problems such infection, acute chest syndrome, and stroke.

East Cooper Land Trust is a community-supported organization devoted to conserving natural spaces, thus the quality of life for current and future generations. I created several promotional items for East Cooper Land Trust. This race is specially targeting runners and walkers of all levels. The roast encourages families to come out and enjoy music, food, and a wonderful atmosphere. To promote East Cooper Land Trust, I created a mailing invitation, sticker, and T-shirt. Because East Cooper is an organization that focuses on preserving land, I went with a palette that is warm and has earthy tones. Since the logo is blue and green, I incorporated those colors throughout the design to achieve a cohesive theme.

SCD is a serious disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells. “Sickle shaped” means that the red blood cells are shaped like a crescent.

Sickle cells are stiff and sticky. They tend to block blood flow in the blood vessels of the limbs and organs. Blocked blood flow

can cause pain and organ damage. It can also raise the risk for infection. Sickle cells contain abnormal hemoglobin called sickle hemoglobin or hemoglobin S. Sickle hemoglobin causes the cells to develop a sickle, or crescent, shape.

Calisto is an incredibly elegant type created by Ron Calisto. I wanted to show that older, serif type fonts were viable and attractive in today’s world. This is a dynamic multi-page type book that incorporates a red, blue, and yellow color scheme throughout.

Calisto MT is an old style serif typeface designed in 1986 for the Monotype Foundry by Ron Carpenter, British typographer, born 1950.

The Calisto face is intended to function as both a text and display face. Stroke contrast is minimal and maintenance of even color, especially in smaller point sizes, contributes to high legibility. Roman and italic characters are animated by serifs and terminals cut on an angle to the baseline, and a concave indent at the terminals reminiscent of Belwe and Palatino types. Minuscule characters have a somewhat extreme x-height.

The client, MUSC Children’s hospital, needed a playful, bright T-shirt design for the yearly Reindeer Run, which supports research, prevention and treatment of childhood diseases for the Department of Pediatrics. I acheived this by using only three colors, which are light blue, burgandy, and brown. Keeping this design in a three color pallette scheme, guided me to achieving a succesful reindeer holding a Reindeer Run sign.

This is a book-cover project where I chose three novels and redesign the book-cover. I chose Tar Baby, Sula, and The Bluest Eye. Each book was written by Toni Morrison. I designed the books to be similar in style so they are able to sell as one product or as an individual book in the book store. I deciding to go with more of an illustrative design because I wanted each character to embrace there own style and feel through the illustrations. Since the main characters are women, I created my own text to flow and swirl like hair. When you read the synopsis you are able to envision the main characters as young ladies that are African American who have a story to tell.

Book Covers

This is a poster that displays the typeface Palatino by Herman Zapf. Palatino, it is an Old Style Renaissance typeface that was created in 1948. I wanted to showcase it’s elegance. I chose a brown, gray, and red pallet in poster one and a black, red, and gray palette in the second poster. Each poster displays Palatino, but the change in color and layout conveys a unique poster feeling.

Palatino

Seazons is a french fry business that offers a variety of flavorful french fries with many toppings and sides. This kiosk is located, in Charleston, SC at the Citadel Mall. Seazons strive to have zestful flavors and zestful fries. It’s a fun, family place to hang out and eat fries. I achieved this by creating a logo that has negative space and a friendly and happy feel by using the colors red, yellow, and white. I created a cone with red and white stripes. I also designed fries that showcase a bright playful feeling. The logo is applied through several deliverables:
