EXAMPLEGrade 8hachi nen sei
はち ねん せい八 年 生
Asking For Somebody’s grade:
Q. なん ねんせい ですか。 Nan nensei desuka
Answering:A. はち ねんせい です。 hachi nensei desu
Telling Someone Your Grade:
わたし は はち ねんせい Watashi wa hachi nensei
です。 desu
Particle も (mo)
も (mo)means also
* N.B. In Japanese the particle always follows the word it belongs to.
Example: Mizue: なん ねんせい です か。 Nan nensei desu ka What grade are you in?
Atsuko: 八 ねんせい です。 hachi nensei desu I’m in grade 8.
Mizue: わたし も 八 ねんせい です。 watashi mo hachi nensei desu. I’m also in grade 8.
When you hear ka か at the end of a sentence, you have
just heard a question.Ka = ?
