Schedule – Friday, July 10th

• 9:00 - Athletes’ bus & bike transport leaves for venue for bike check-in

• 10:00-12:00 – Compulsory bike and uniform check for athletes (wheels

and handlebar check, branding check)

• 12:30 - Bus leaves from Venue for Athlete’s Village

• 20:00 – Opening Ceremonies

Schedule – Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th• 5:00 - Athletes’ bus leaves the Athlete’s Village for the Venue

• 6:00 – Athlete’s Lounge Opens

• 6:30 – 8:00 – Transition Opens

• 7:00 – 8:00 - Bike / Run Warm Up Open (Sectors 1 and 2 only)

• 7:15 – 8:10 -Swim Warm Up Open

• 8:05 – Athlete’s Lounge Closes

• 8:15 - All athletes in call room

• 8:30 – Athlete Introductions

• 8:35 – Race Starts

• 10:40 – Medal Ceremonies

• 11:00 – Women/Men can remove their bikes from Venue

• 11:30 - Bus and bike transport leaves from Venue for Athlete’s Village

Check In Procedure

• Athletes’ lounge

• Uniform and equipment check (name, country, NOC

logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform.

– Wearing another uniform during the race = DSQ!

• Body marking check (both arms, both legs)

• Timing chip distribution (2 pcs, 1-1 ankle)

• Swim cap distribution

• Leave your bags & accreditation in the Athletes’ lounge

Check In Procedure (2)

• Transition area

• Helmet check – Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition

– Any athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 15

seconds in TA1.

• Running shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike.

• No personal camera can be added on the athlete’s bike.

• If you want to use a broadcaster camera contact Leslie Buchanan

• To add any equipment to the bike, you must obtain approval from the TD up until 10

minutes after the end of the Athletes briefing.

• Only bottles in line with the branding rules can be used.

• No modifications on the bikes are allowed after the bike check-in, the night before.

Pre-start Procedure

• Athletes introduction

• 20 minutes before the start – line-up in the Athletes’

Call Room

• Jog to the platform

• Go to your pre-selected position

Start Procedure

• Athletes in position:

• The start can be given any time after the Technical Official

announces ”On your mark.”

• Electronic horn blasts

• The race starts

• Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty

of 15 seconds in TA1.

False Start Procedures

• False start :

• Several horn blasts

• Kayaks in front of you

• Everyone goes back to her/his spot

• Valid start with early starters:

• If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the

horn, the athlete who false started will receive a time penalty of 15

seconds in TA1.

• (During time penalties athletes can not touch any of their equipment!)

• Today at 9:30

Water temperature: 17.2°C

Air temperature: 17.1°C

• 2 laps swim (1000m, then 500m)

• Distance to the first turn buoy is 315m

• Take cap, goggles to transition and place in your box

• Individual bike racks – number, name and country flag

• Practice the flow of Transition

T1 – Rear wheel in rack, facing inside of Transition,

exit using inside lane of Transition

T2 – Front wheel in rack, exit using outside lane of

Transition

• Put all used equipment into your box

• Mount line at the end of the Transition

• Flat and technical (one hill on return to transition)

• Lap Auditor: at the exit of the Transition Area

• Lapped athletes are out of the race

• First runner / last biker scenario

• If you withdraw during the race, please report to the nearest aid

station or wheel station

• Athlete being lapped should stay at the nearest aid or wheel station until the end of the race

• 4 laps of 2.5 km (total distance of 10 km)

• Aid stations:

x per lap

Sealed water

Discard plastic bottles in the littering zone (located 20m before

to 80m after Aid Stations)

• Run penalty box (before transition area)

• Photo-finish

• Congestion in finish area:

Go to mixed zone / recovery area

• If you withdraw during the race, please report to the nearest aid

station or wheel station

Run Penalty Box

• The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike and TA2

• e.g.: Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, discharge or store your equipment outside your designated area, rack the bike outside your own space etc.

• (Transition will be videotaped for infringements)

• Location: Before the finish chute

• Information: White board to show race numbers. (Athletes need to read the board)

• Procedure: 15 second time penalty served on any lap of the run

• If you don’t stop – DSQ

Post Race Procedures

• Athletes in poor condition go to the first recovery

• Mixed zone – immediately after finish

• Go through the mixed zone and enter the recovery area

Medal Ceremonies

• Medalists will be escorted by Technical Officials

• Top 3 athletes go to the ceremony line up area.

• Medal Presentation – protocol – within 15 minutes after the winner

finishing

• Please follow the branding rules

• Athletes are required to wear their NOC official uniform – Sport

Volunteers will deliver your uniform to you

• Following the medal presentation, you will be escorted back to the

Mixed Zone and then to the Media Conference Room
