Evaluation

In order to gather some audience research, I put together a questionnaire and contributed 30 people from a few of my classes to fill it in, so I had some idea of background information which would come in useful for my later task. I chose these questions as I found they would be the most useful in to my knowledge of the most popular and demanded music which are wanted in magazines. The outcome of this questionnaire, showed that the majority of people enjoyed listening to R&B and Hip Hop music rather than anything else I included in my options. I also found that the majority only purchased music magazines once a month, even though this isn’t a very regular purchase, the majority also said that they would be prepared to spend from £2.50-£3 on it, which is a reasonable amount. I also asked what music channels they listened to as they are specifically known for their different types and variations of music, therefore it painted more of a picture of what kind of music they found the most appealing; here MTV was the favourite .

However, I could have done a lot to improve this questionnaire. I would have received a lot more accurate and qualitative market research if I had included a space for them to write another option, this would have given them an opportunity to write anything else which I may have forgotten to include. There is also a lack in a population validity here, as the only people who took part in this were college students aged between 16-18 therefore I could not generalise my results. I could have also asked whether they were male or female, as this would have helped my analysis of the questionnaire and generalise my results to either one of the sexes.
