The Australian Jewellery Fair returned to the Gold Coast for a second year and
provided the perfect opportunity for retailers and exhibitors to come together and
kickstart the year.
New attractions to the fair this year included the Young Jewellers Bench and a special
programme of retail solutions by guest expert Nancy Georges. This year’s fair also
featured the return of our popular Spotlight sessions and on-floor activities provided
plenty of interest and business boosting advice.
At a special super session on Sunday morning, we also heard from Olympic hero
Steven Bradbury as he shared the uplifting and motivational story about his incredible
journey to Olympic Gold.
The new turnkey stand packages proved popular with easy set up and gave the show
a fresh, brighter look.
The Jewellery Industry Awards were staged after the fair closed on Saturday night.
There was much anticipation from the audience as the finalists and winners were
announced, recognising the people in the industry across a number of categories
that featured leading products, merchandising, marketing, innovation and service.
Congratulations to all the winners!
The change to Saturday and Sunday delivered a more balanced split of visitors
between the two days with the Gold Coast contributing 26% of visitors, Brisbane 20%
and other parts of Queensland 23%. The other 31% were from all states right around
Australia and New Zealand.
We would like to thank the Jewellers Association
of Australia, Jeweller magazine, the three
buying groups; Leading Edge, Nationwide
and Showcase and all of the exhibitors who
supported the fair this year, providing a unique
opportunity to bring the local market together.
Following a review of industry feedback
we are delighted to announce that we will
alternate the fair between Melbourne in
2016 and Queensland the following year in
2017. Full details will be announced soon!

Event Marketing Activities
OFFICIAL EXHIBITION DIRECTORY
The 24-page exhibition directory, produced
by Jeweller magazine, was available to every
visitor, providing a valuable resource to
navigate the exhibition and more importantly
an essential post event resource to keep in
touch with exhibitors.
A co-ordinated and multi-faceted marketing campaign was conducted in the lead-up to promote the Gold Coast fair.
TRADE MAGAZINE ADVERTISING
A schedule of advertising was placed in the
major trade publication, Jeweller magazine.
The campaign also included inserts tailored
to the Australian retail market.
DIRECT MAIL
Direct mail was used extensively by the
event and included three unique mailings to
a database of approx 4,000 prospects on
each occasion:
• ‘Save the Date’ postcard
• 20-page Fair Preview & Registration
Booklet
• Visitor feature letter
TRADE INVITATIONS
& INVOICE STICKERS
DL flyers, postcards and invoice/statement
stickers were printed for the use of exhibitors
to promote their attendance at the fair.
Web banners were also made available
to be included on websites and email
communications.
EMAIL MARKETING
Regular email newsletters were sent to
prospective visitors each outlining specific
event initiatives and pointing back to the
event website.
FAIR WEBSITE
The Gold Coast fair website was a
comprehensive resource for the event,
detailing exhibitor listings, amenities, fair
features, links to speaker details and,
most importantly, a portal to the online
pre-event registration.
TELEMARKETING
A telemarketing campaign was conducted
in the weeks leading up to Christmas AND
in the final weeks prior to the fair, issuing a
personal invitation to attend the fair, correct
records and facilitate the provision of further
information.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Each fair initiative was released to the market
at large via the trade press. As a supporter of
the fair, Jeweller magazine, both online and
in print, ran a wide-ranging preview of the
fair in the months and weeks prior including
a comprehensive ‘Show & Tell’ covering the
majority of exhibitors.
THE DAILY NEWS
Each day of the fair, the Fair News was
emailed to more than 6,000 potential visitors–
full of info direct from the event. By making a
personal daily connection with visitors, they
saw the action ‘live’ from the Fair, and got
excited about visiting.
