The Registrar of Motor Vehicles has determined as a matter of general policy not to make further appointments of Authorised Examiners for class ‘C’ at this time. This policy will not be applied inflexibly. Motor Driving Instructors remain entitled to apply to become Authorised Examiners and may submit reasons why the general policy should not apply to them. Before making a decision on any application the Registrar of Motor Vehicles will consider all relevant materials or submissions put forward by the applicant. Before you begin To become an Authorised Examiner to conduct vehicle on road tests for class C (car) you must Hold a current appointment as an Authorised Examiner class C, competency based training and assessment, Be a Motor Driving Instructor (MDI) and hold at a minimum class C driver’s licence. Step One. Apply for exemption to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles moratorium on appointing Authorised Examiners for class C (car). Forward your application for exemption to: [email protected]. If you are granted an exemption proceed to step 2. Step Two. Lodge an application to become an Authorised Examiner with the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. Include with your application: Evidence of successfully passing the MDI theory test at a Service SA customer service centre. Contact 13 1084 to make a booking. The MDI theory test is valid for 12 months. A certified copy of a current (no more than three months old) National Police Clearance 1 certificate from an approved provider listed on the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) website, www.acic.gov.au. A certified copy of the current Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction). A certified copy of your statement of attainment for the training and assessment units TAEASS401 – Plan Assessment Activities and Processes TAEASS402 - Assess Competence. Step Three. Before a decision on your application is made you will be audited conducting a CBT&A last training session by an Assessment Officer to verify your ability when undertaking assessments in accordance with the Registrar of Motor Vehicles standard. Your performance during the audit must meet the Registrar’s required standards to be able to progress further in the process. You will then be notified if you have met all the pre-conditions to allow you to commence the required training and assessments to gain your VORT appointment. 1 Certificates older than three months will not be accepted. Moratorium on the appointment of authorised examiners for class C (car). The Registrar of Motor Vehicles has determined as a matter of general policy not to make further appointments of Authorised Examiners for class ‘C’ at this time. Before you begin To become an Authorised Examiner to conduct vehicle on road tests for class C (car) you must

Hold a current appointment as an Authorised Examiner class C, competency based training andassessment,

Be a Motor Driving Instructor (MDI) and hold at a minimum class C driver’s licence.

Step One. Apply for exemption to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles moratorium on appointing Authorised Examiners for class C (car). Forward your application for exemption to: [email protected].

Step Two. Lodge an application to become an Authorised Examiner with the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. Includewith your application:

Step Four. Attend and successfully complete the three day Authorised Examiner VORT class C accreditation course delivered by DPTI Standards and Accreditation. The course consists of classroom theory training and assessments and on road driving and assessments. The course provides you with the basic skills to be appointed as a vehicle on road test examiner and covers:

The procedures governing the conduct of vehicle on road tests

The standards to be applied when assessing an applicant for a drivers licence

The on-road training and assessment will be conducted in a manual transmission vehicle.

Step Five. Upon completing the above requirements and appointment by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles you must attend a Service SA center to pay your yearly fee and for the issue of a new (replacement) motor driving instructors photographic identity badge.

Fees (subject to change):

Motor Driving Instructor theory test $65 plus $17 administration fee

Driving assessment $235 test fee per assessment plus $17 administration fee per booking

Authorised Examiner CBT&A class C accreditation course

$235 training and proficiency test fee per day and $17 administration fee

Appointment as an Authorised Examiner vehicle on road testing (yearly fee)

Issue of new (replacement) Motor Driving Instructor badge.
