Dear Members and Readers
We have celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava Day (the day Karnataka was formed) in the month of November. It was a dream of many Kannadigas to live in Karnataka. Many from our community participated in the Karnataka Ekikarana movement. Let us take a moment to remember them with gratitude and our due respect to them. We are proud of those Kannadigas who had, distinct identity. Let us pay our tributes due to them for their trials and tribulations'.
AVOPA would be issuing ID cards to all Members and Donor Members which will help them to get identified with AVOPA and its ideals. One of our important goals is to pursue development of our children and youth who are the back-bone of our nation. In this direction, we have planned the Merit Prize distribution, Scholarships and awarding of PREM awards to deserving students. I appeal for greater participation, to encourage and motivate our future generation.
AVOPA Nagar has now become a reality. The registrations of sites have begun. The developer is about to raise the prices. We are happy that our members could buy sites with our facilitation, in such a short time. A few more sites are available, on first come first served basis.
To widen our horizon, AVOPA introduced overseas trips. In continuation of this endeavour, in January and February 2015 we plan to have two overseas trips. Please do avail the opportunity and travel – 'Travel broadens the mind'.
We had an illuminating monthly talk on 'RTI – Action and Reaction' from Sri K L Subramanya, Retd. Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department, Bangalore. Because of RTI, we are able to protect our rights and seek the Government, to do – what it ought to do. Use it effectively to protect your fundamental rights. AVOPA celebrated its anniversary on 22nd November 2014 at AVOPA premises. Office bearers, EC members, Trustees and members attended.
You are all aware that AVOPA is running a free hostel for students. The day to day expenses of the hostel are on the rise and we are in need of funds to continue running it effectively in the future. Therefore I appeal to all of you to donate generously towards this noble cause.
As members and donors, you are AVOPA's driving force and its success depends on you. Please participate in all the activities and take our association to greater heights.

The endowment programme is being conducted, since several years in the name of Late B Chandra Gupta , who was one of the founder of AVOPA who also served as its President. Sri K L Subramanya, Retd. Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, GOK, and former President, Federation of All AVOPAs in India, delivered a lecture on the subject “RTI Action & Reaction”. In his talk, he narrated how the RTI came in to existence after a protracted struggle by the people of India. Through RTI, the people of India have got an opportunity to know the information about the functioning of Govt. at Centre and at the States. He also narrated how the important information has come to light through the RTI, otherwise, it would not have been possible in the earlier days. Many PILs have been initiated by NGOs and individuals who are working for the social cause on the basis of the information collection through RTI. He also informed how to make application under RTI with minute details. After the talk, he also clarified many queries raised. Sri Raja Shailesh Chandra Gupta, former Editor of Prajavani and a well known intellectual of the Arya Vysya Community also intervened in the meeting. Sri C S Gupta, President, AVOPA presided over the meeting and also felicitated the speaker. Sri P C Balaraj, President, AVOPA Charitable Trust, spoke about Sri B Chandra Gupta and his contribution for the growth of AVOPA. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by Sri Anjan Setty, Vice President of AVOPA.

♥ The fruit is moderate in calories; 100 g provides 83 calories, slightly more than that in the apples. It contains no cholesterol or saturated fats.
♥ It is a good source of soluble and insoluble dietary fibers, providing about 4 g per 100 g (about 12% of RDA), which aid in smooth digestion and bowel movements.
♥ The fruit is suggested by nutritionists in the diet for weight reduction and cholesterol controlling programs. Regular inclusion of fruits in the diets boosts immunity, improves circulation, and offers protection from cancers.
♥ Certain ellagitannin compounds such as Granatin B, and Punicalagin are found abundantly in the pomegranate juice. Studies suggest that punicalagin and tannins are effective in reducing heart-disease risk factors by scavenging harmful free radicals from the human body.
