am happy to inform you all that our Matrimony event 'ShrirasthuShubhamasthu'will be held on Sunday 14th July 2019 at Vasavi Convention Hall, V Vpuram,Bengaluru. I request the members and donors to inform their relatives and friends
to enroll for this event. We are accepting enrollment for this event through online as well as manual. Those who are opting for manual, please download the application from the avopa website. Ours is a unique event. This time also we are having special attraction of SuvarnaKanika of Rs. 10,000/- from the AVOPA. This SuvarnaKanika will be given to those who are marriaging among the members enrolled for this event.
During the month of February and March 2019, we distributed the books from our Book Bank to the Engineering students studying from 2nd to 8th semester. The students are happly taking the books home and returning after their semester completed.
On 3rd March 2019, CA. D S Vivek took an interactive session on “Central Budget and other Tax related Matter including GST”. There was overwhelming response with hall full of members.
Please note that our monthly programme has been preponed from second Sunday to first Sunday of every month and also change in the Venue. On Sunday the 7th April 2019 a talk will be given by Dr. Saraswathi Ramesh on 'Health tips to prevent diseases' at Vasavi Temple, Manjunathanagar, West of Chord Road, Bengaluru 560079.I request all the members and donors to attend with their family.
You may all aware that new initiative is taking place by our Vysyas “Mane ManegeVasavi” (Vasavi idol moving from one house to another hose). This is initiated by Mane ManegeVasavi Charitable Trust under the leadership of Sri Kumara Gupta. Those who are interested to take the Idol of VasaviMatha for pooja to their house of their choice day may contact the Trust members. CVMS Hostel Old Boys Association is conducting Golden Jubilee celebration shortly along with Silver Jubilee celebrations of their Dharmaprakasha Sri SVS Memorial Free Hostel. Please contact 080 26710954 for more details.

I am happy to inform you that AVOPA BHAVAN initiation is in progress, some donors are also identified. Positive response is also seen in this regard. Within 2-3 months, we will be able to give a picture.
A team of 12 members are taking a tour to Andaman Nicobar Island from 27th March 2019. We wish them a happy and enjoyable trip.

CA. D. S. Vivek, Chartered Accountant was the speaker in the monthly programme held on 3rd March 2019 and he spoke on the subject 'Union Budget and other tax related matters including GST.' Vivek is a Business Catalyst, Entrepreneur, Coach, Trusted Advisor, Speaker and Out-of-the-box thinker. Formerly Tax consultant, PWC, has been advising business around the world for more than 21 years. He is known for Commercial Efficiency without compromising Corporate Governance. Vivek has got an excellent academic background with All India Ranks in all the and has also completed the Post qualification Tax Management exams of the CA Institute and has presented various papers on varied subjects and contributed articles to professional journals and books. He is a dynamic and bright Chartered Accountant and AryaVysyas are proud about him. The salient points mentioned in his talk with power point presentation are:
State of the economy: Broke the back -breaking inflation-average inflation @4.6% is the lowest. Fiscal deficit is down to 3.4%of GDP in 2018-19 RE.
Simplification of Direct Tax System to benefit Tax payers: Reduction in tax rates has significantly increased the tax collection from 6.38 lakh cr in 2013-14 to almost 12 lakh crore this year. Last year 99.54% of IT returns were accepted as they were filed. Threshold for presumptive tax of business raised from one crore to twocrore. Benefit of presumptive tax was extended to small professionals up to 50 lakh.
Empowering MSMEs and traders: Scheme launched to sanction loans up to 1 crore in 59 minutes Requirement of sourcing from SMEs by Govt enterprises increased to 25% of which at least 3% will be sourced from women owned SMEs. Govt e-Marketplace platform now being extended to all CPSEs-enabling transparency & efficiency and providing opportunity to MSMEs to sell their products.
Labour and workers Dignity: Maximum ceiling of bonus to laborers increased from 3500pm to 7000 pm and the maximum ceiling of pay increased from 10000 pm to 21000 pm. Gratuity ceiling enhanced from 10 lakhs to 20 lakhs. Ceiling of ESI's eligibility cover is increased from 15000 pm to 21000 pm.
Entertainment: Single window clearance for ease of shooting films, available only to foreigners is now going to be made available to Indian filmmakers as well. Govt will introduce anti-cam cording provisions in Cinematography Act to control piracy.
Supporting Indians across the world: Several initiatives is taken to strengthen their connect with India, facilitate their investment in India and ease their travel. Empowering youthis to fulfill their potential.Govt has harnessed Yuva Shakti through self-employment schemes including MUDRA, start-up India and Stand -up India.
Poor and backward classes: Govt has ensured 10% reservation in institutions and Government services for economically weaker sections.Reduction in prices of essential medicines, cardiac stents and knee implants.
Farmer's progress and Increase in Income: Interest subvention increased on agricultural loans and extending benefit to farmers pursuing the activities of animal husbandry and fisheries.
Many welfare schemes launched in the Budget: Direct income support @6000 pa to farmer families with cultivable land up to 2 hectares- transferred directly into bank accounts-in 3 equal installments. 'PradhanMantriShram-Yogi Maandhan for the unorganized sector workers with monthly income upto 15000. RashtriyaKamadhenuAayog to upscale sustainable genetic up-gradation of cow resources and to enhance production and productivity of cows.
Annual Financial Statements: The total Budget outlay for 2019-20 is Rs.27.84 lakh crores (about 13% incremental over previous year) which is after accounting for States' share of Rs.8.47 lakhcrores.
Tax Proposals: Relief under section 87A extended to Resident individuals earning up to Rs.5 lakhs, but no change in tax rates for all taxpayers. Currently, S.87A provides relief up to Rs.2500 to a resident individual if his total income does not exceeded Rs.350000/- The relief u/s 87 A is increased to 12500, which
shall be available to those resident individuals whose total income does not exceed Rs. 500000/- d u r i n g t h e F Y 2 0 1 9 - 2 0 . Accord ing ly , tax rates , as applicable for FY2018-19 shall continue to apply for FY2019-20.
Although individuals with total income between Rs. 2.5 lakhs and Rs.5 lakhs need not pay any tax, they are required to file their IT return. Late filing fee u/s 234F
will also be applicable to them. Standard deduction for all the salaried employees from Rs. 40000/- to Rs.50000/- for the financial year.Salaried and pensioners to gain between Rs.3588 a year in tax savings due to higher standard deduction. Threshold limit for TDS U/s 194A for interest on deposits with Banks/Co-operative bank/post office increased from Rs.10000 to Rs.40000. P.A. The finance minister thanked the honest taxpayers.
GST Reforms for benefit to consumers and business: With effect from 1st April 2019, an exemption from GST for small business has been doubled from Rs.20 lakh to Rs.40 lakh. Small business having turnover up to Rs.1.5 crore have been given an attractive compensation scheme wherein they pay only 1% flat rate and have to file one annual return only. Small service providers with turnover up to 50 lakhs can now opt for compensation scheme and pay GST at 6% instead of 18%.
Vivek's presentation of the details was very lucid and explanatory. He also gave clarifications to those who queried on various issues. T.N. Ashoka welcomed the guest and gathering. Gopala Krishna Gupta introduced the guest. Rajendra Prasad presided. BadarinaryanaBabu proposed vote of thanks.
