Dear Life members, Donor members and Readers,
First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you, for the trust reposed in the new team, by electing it to head our beloved AVOPA. We know that it is an onerous responsibility, which was so well shouldered by CA. N.A. Shankaranarayana Setty and his team for the past ten years. It is difficult to shoulder a role, when previous leader, has shown exemplary performance. However, myself and my team have taken a vow, to perform to the best of our ability and take AVOPA to greater heights.
As a practicing chartered accountant, I have realised that energizing goals are necessary for any organisation to grow and extend service to the society. The team is looking at several challenging goals.
The first and most important goal is to enhance the membership. We are today, five thousand strong but, it is not enough, since our community is growing multi dimensionally and we need to induct more members who would carry the message of AVOPA and serve larger sections of the community. The next big goal that we have is to shift the AVOPA office to a bigger place, to enable more activities to be taken up. The idea is to locate a larger site and build the AVOPA office and the hostel building. The third important goal is to enable our youngsters to enter Civil Services in a big way. Of course, we intend to continue whatever we are doing well and further enhance the size of these activities like the Book Bank, Matrimony Meet, Merit Prize, Scholarship events and many more.
I call upon on each and every one of you to extend your helping hand and participate in strengthening our community, and make AVOPA a powerful force.
The team is having all the talent and competence needed to achieve what has been thought of. It is for all of you to motivate them, by your participation.
Sri K G Krupal, gave an impressive lecture on “Opportunity for Investors in Volatile Market”. The meeting was well attended. He has clarified all the questions raised. We intend to have many more lectures in coming days.

KNOW YOUR NEW PRESIDENTCA. C.S.Gupta was elected as the new President of AVOPA, Bangalore for the term2014-16. CA. C.S.Gupta, a highly respected person in the social circles, is a man of action. He is a forward thinking leader with clear vision and has passion to serve the society at large. He has a special focus on education and his educational qualification B.Com, LLB, FCA is a clear indicator of the same.
CA. C.S.Gupta born to Sri B. Narasimaiah Setty & Smt. Jeevarathnamma in a small town Chikkaballapur which is an hour's drive from Bangalore. All his schooling and pre-university education was done in Chikkaballapur. Even during his formative years, one could see that he had penchant for oratory. He was a keen learner and his continued
passion for knowledge inspired him to seek higher education in Mysore and he graduated with Bachelors in Commerce from D. Banumaiah's College, Mysore (Mysore University). It was here that he found a plethora of opportunities to hone his oratory skills. He soon turned into a profound Kannada orator and secured innumerable prizes at various levels including state level competitions. He continued his quest for knowledge and pursued LLB in SJRC college of Law, Bangalore. During the year 1974-75, SJRC won an unprecedented 28 shields in inter collegiate and inter-hostel debates. Sri. C.S.Gupta played an instrumental role in this achievement.
He got to know about Chartered Accountancy as a professional career from his uncle and he was quick to pursue it. As part of the course, he did his articleship with the prestigious M/S Suresh & Co., Bangalore. Subsequently, he cleared the CA course in flying colours.
After completing the CA, he started his own practice as Proprietor, M/S C.S.Gupta & Co., Bangalore. He was actively involved in various CA institute programmes and served the institute in various capacities such as Treasurer, SICASA chairman, Secretary and Vice-Chairman. During the year 1996-97, he was elected as the Chairman of the Bangalore Branch of SIRC of ICAI. During his tenure, a number of programmes for the students and the members were organized and the same was appreciated by one and all.
He is also the member of Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association (KSCAA), Bangalore where he served as the Conference Chairman for 2 terms.
His desire for community building and enthusiasm in serving the society drew him close to AVOPA and Vasavi Union. One of the key objectives of Vasavi Union is to encourage and promote educational excellence among students by awarding gold medals to the meritorious students. He is still actively associated with Vasavi Union, Bangalore and he has served Vasavi Union as the Treasurer, Jt.Secretary, Awards Committee Chairman. He is serving as the Gen.Secretary of Vasavi Union since 10 years. He is currently, also serving as the President of Sri.Vasavi CA Charitable Trust (VCAT) which was founded with an objective of empowering the needy and weaker sections of the society.
He is an active member of AVOPA since 22 years and served as Treasurer, Jt.Secretary, Gen.Secretary and Vice-President of AVOPA and AVOPA Charitable Trust during which he has already played an instrumental role in shaping the activities of AVOPA.
He is also actively involved in other Social organisations such as Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha where he has served as an EC member for 2 terms.
On his personal front, he is happily married to Smt.Nagaveni Gupta who is also involved in many social organisations. They are blessed with two sons and two grandchildren.
Under his leadership, AVOPA looks forward for better future.

Imm. Past President's MessageDear Members, Donors and Readers,
I am bidding farewell from all of you, since I have demitted the President's position, after serving
for ten years. When I look back to the decade of service, I find so many achievements and events
of happiness. The decade was filled with activities for the upliftment of our community.
Over the years, many eminent members and well wishers participated in the AVOPA activities. They are too
innumerable to mention. However, as the President of AVOPA, my heartfelt gratitude to them is in order. On
behalf of AVOPA, wherever I went and asked for 'people and financial support', it was always given the
support with open hands. Sometimes, the generous help was beyond my expectations. It is these generous
donors, who opened their purses and gave with a free will, for good causes. The office bearers and members
of the Executive Committee stood behind me like a rock, whenever we took on new projects. Their
enthusiasm and passion was so high, it was delightful. I always believed in team work. It was never lagging.
Every one brought their individual brilliance and contributed towards the team goal. T.E.A.M stands for
'Together Each Achieves More'. This became true, in the context of the Executive Committee with all its
members. Kudos to them.
Coming to today, I find the AGM has chosen a well balanced team, lead by new President CA. C S Gupta will
certainly uplift the contribution of AVOPA, to higher levels. I expect lot more from the team.
Despite my initial reluctance, I have been given the role of a Mentor. A mentor's role is to guide, counsel and
philosophise. I presume that everyone felt, I would be able to do it. I accepted this role, with humility and
would certainly try my best, to live up to the expectations.
Before signing off, I enjoyed being involved in several organisation building activities like setting up of the
Book Bank, Matrimony Meet, and Hostel for indigent students, Foreign Tours, AVOPA Nagar and launching
of the AVOPA Web Site and also setting up of the AVOPA Office. The idea was to reach out and get closer to
the community. I believe we achieved it.

CongratulationsAVOPA congratulates Sri M S Rajesh, Who has been conferred with Chief Minister's Gold Medal for his
distinguished services through “Karnataka Civil Defence Cops” as Divisional Warden.
We congratulate Mr. Akash Srinivas, who has recently won the prestigious Erasmus Mundas Scholarship to
study a two year International Master In Quaternary and prehistory (IMQP) course. Pursuing history especially
studing subjects related to pre-historic people and their culture needs a special interest. But for Akrsh Srinivas,
a 23 year young archeology student, this is not only his interest but also a passion. It made him to win the
prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. He topped the category A (for non-European Unin Students) of the
Scholarship with a score of 95. He is the proud son of Sri B Srinivasan and Smt. Avara Srinivasan.

Report on the Monthly Programme
AVOPA Bangalore organized a programme on “Opportunity for Investors in volatile share market” Sri C S Gupta, President, AVOPA, Bangalore welcomed the Guest Speaker, all members, their families and others present. Sri P C Balaraj, President, AVOPA Charitable Trust introduced the Guest Speaker Sri K G Krupal, Author, Broker, Columnist, who is an authority for the last 3 decades on the subject of share business to the audience. Sri Krupal at the outset, presented an overview covering do's and don'ts, misconceptions, delicacy of the share trading and finally with a word of caution, 'invest w i t h a t o t a l understanding of the subject without blindly
following others' with a PPT presentation and brief explanation for all slides. The hall was filled with interested audience. Many persons among the audience actively participated during the interactive session. At the end he briefly talked value added details on the subject. The guest speaker was felicitated by CA. C S Gupta.
