George Gunderson started building up his watchmaking and jewelry manufacturing experience at age 14 when he began working for a watchmaker who learned his trade in Stockholm, Sweden. By the 1930’s, George had opened up his own offi ce for wholesale and watch repair trade work for many jewelry stores and jewelers in the city.

In 1946, George and Dee Gunderson opened up Gunderson’s Jewelers in Sioux City, Iowa. The company was built on family values, commitment to excellence and dedication to customer service. At that time, the

store included diamonds, pen and pencil sets, watches as well as other gifts.

By 1968, Gunderson’s Jewelers was offi cially incorporated and eventually the business and its tradition were handed down to the second generation of Gunderson’s, Gary and Betty. A short decade later, the company relocated to the Terra Centre in the heart of downtown Sioux City. It was at that time that Gunderson’s became the exclusive Rolex dealer for the Siouxland area.

PROFILE OF

Gunderson’sGunderson’s Jewelers has a rich and diverse foundation of experience in the

diamond and fine jewelry industry. Founded in 1946, we have served customers throughout the United States and abroad for over 65 years. Now, in

our third generation, we have built a business focusing on honesty, integrity, reliability and an exceptional level of customer service.

The transition into the 1990’s brought an expansion to additional aspects of Gunderson’s including the acquisition of a diamond mine and the opening of a jewelry manufacturing facility in Rapid City, South Dakota. The company’s location in the Terra Centre soon after expanded to 9,000 square feet. Brian, the oldest of Gary’s three sons, took over as President of Gunderson’s with his father acting as chairman of the board.

Shortly after, a second store opened in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was eventually relocated to a stunning new building at the Bridges at 57th. The new location incorporated a long-list of comforts and innovations that together formed this one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Similarly, Gunderson’s designed a brand new building at Sioux City’s Lakeport Commons – a shopping, dining and entertainment hub.

The custom designed showroom was recognized as the “Sixth Coolest Store” in the nation by Instore Magazine in 2006. We are truly excited about the addition of the Omaha store to the Gunderson’s family. There is no doubt that this new location will continue the Gunderson’s trend of providing clients with a superlative value in both high-end jewelry lines and rare and collectible polished diamonds and gemstones.

Although a lot has changed, we are happy to say that Gunderson’s is still built on the same family values and tradition that existed over 65 years ago. We continue to provide distinctive craftsmanship to assure that each client has the most breathtaking array of unique designs and exquisite quality.

CHRISTIAN MICHAEL PIKE & MORGAN LAKNER

The fi ancée of a fallen sailor received the most precious gift of her life during the summer of 2013. On March 13, 2013 Christian Pike died from injuries sustained in combat while serving our country in Afghanistan. Though he is no longer with us, his fi ancee will carry the both of them together - in this diamond! Using locks of hair from Morgan and Christian’s ashes, Infi nity Diamond has combined the carbon taken from each of them and created this stunning 2.05 carat diamond - forever connecting them in a way unlike any other. The diamond not only represents the love of a soldier, but also that the United States is home of the free, because of the brave. Thank you Christian M. Pike for your service.

A DIAMOND FOUND IN YOUR HEART

Made OFLoveQuite literally, an Infinity Diamond is made of you, your family members, or your

beloved. From a simple lock of hair, we gather the carbon required to create a diamond that’s unlike any other: a diamond that encapsulates your memories and your life. A real,

permanent symbol of the people you love and the relationships dear to your heart.

The most personal and precious gem in the world isn’t found in the ground: it’s the Infinity Diamond you create with the people closest to you.

EUGENE STOFFEL& GLENNFIDDITCHEugene Stoff el adopted his best friend, a Scottish Terrier by the name of Glenfi ddich, in late October of 2002. As time had passed, weeks had become months, and months into years. Eugene and Glenfi ddich had formed a bond that can only be understood by a pet and their owner. However, one afternoon Eugene had discovered a lump within the Scottie’s throat, Glenfi ddich had developed cancer. On his last day, a winter cold blanketed the ground in snow, where he playfully danced among the snowfl akes one last time. Glenfi dditch gently fell asleep that December night in Eugene’s arms.

“We had saved some of Glenfi ddich’s fur. At the time, we weren’t sure what we would do with it, but after hearing about Infi nity Diamond, everything came together” exclaimed Stoff el. Late in July, Eugene received a beautiful, blue, .31 ct stone, The Glenfi ddich Diamond, completely unique and as stunning as the dog, that provided such a great life and years shared.

A MOTHER’S DAY SURPRISE

A girl loves a diamond. But even more so when it has special meaning. Imagine getting a diamond that connects you with your family in a very unique way. Marisa Olson found out as a surprise gift from her husband Ben. “When he gave me the diamond necklace on Mother’s Day, they surprised me, and it just made my heart melt. It was just the coolest thing.” Ben took hair from his two sons, himself as well as secretly getting some hair from his wife’s hairbrush and created a truly unique diamond bonding the family together forever in a diamond. Marisa couldn’t be more thrilled with her Mother’s diamond ring. “I feel so proud to tell other people that this is what my husband and my kids did for me, it’s just really special.” Ben created the diamond with the help of Infi nity Diamond by physically connecting the family together within the bonds of a diamond. Ben states, “If you’re going to get a diamond for someone special you might as well make the diamond special.”

Investing IN NATURAL COLOR DIAMONDS

Natural color diamonds have been a dazzling treasure for centuries. Formerly a prized possession of Kings, Queens and members of the elite, these diamonds are now becoming an

obsession among investors all around the world.

Recently, natural color diamonds have grown in popularity among both men and women. While gold and famous paintings previously stole the investment market, the new trend is natural color diamonds. In 2011, natural color diamonds more than doubled gold’s returns. Similarly, gold and diamonds are authenticated, graded and long lasting; however, unlike gold, natural color diamonds have not had price volatility. Surprisingly, these diamonds have increased 10-15 percent per year since the 1970s, when record-keeping fi rst began.

A notable turning point that helped shed light on natural color diamonds as an investment happened in 1987 when a .95-carat red diamond was sold for $880,000 at an auction house. The diamond was originally purchased by a Montana gem collector in 1956 for $13,500; a 650 percent investment over 31 years’ time. It is rumored that the diamond, named the Hancock Red, currently belongs to the Sultan of Brunei.

Page 31: B8ece58102

WWW.GUNDERSONS.COM 31

“Whether it’s their visual appeal, the prospect of seeing a big jump in value, or just the desire to own something that almost nobody else in the world posesses, these have become the gems that everyone covets.” - Sotheby’s

In 2008, a few months after the fi nancial crisis struck the world economy, a 35.56-carat fancy deep blue diamond sold for $23.4 million – the highest price ever paid for a diamond at auction. Since this sale, both Christie’s and Sotheby’s auction houses have achieved near-record and record prices for top natural color diamonds.

Jewelry sales at the auction houses have been steadily increasing, in part, due to the international reach of the auction houses, the rarity of top gems and the greater number of private buyers going to auction. In 2010, a Sotheby’s auction that featured the $46.1 million fancy intense pink diamond was the fi rst jewelry auction to top $100 million total.

“Diamonds have the best fundamentals... the gap between supply and demand is much greater than other commodities.” -Merril Lynch / Bank of America

Page 32: B8ece58102

32 WWW.GUNDERSONS.COM

While natural color diamonds are a great investment it is estimated that out of the millions of diamonds mined each year, only one in every 10,000 carats will possess color; an even smaller percent are larger than one carat. Furthermore, these diamonds are becoming increasingly rare due to several diamond mine closures around the world. In fact, the Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia is expected to close in 2020 due to diminishing production yields. The diminishing supply and increasing demand for these natural color diamonds further reinforces their value and potential for long-term investment.

Gunderson’s Jewelers has specialized in natural color diamonds and natural gemstones for over 30 years. We follow the industry and markets very closely to assure expertise in purchasing the right stones at the right times. With a strong and proven track record, we have had experience with diamonds and gemstones considered the fi nest in their category.

At Gunderson’s Jewelers, we not only assist our clients throughout the diamond investing process, but also have the experience needed to obtain these exquisite stones.

BRIAN GUNDERSON is the third generation owner and President of Gunderson’s Jewelers. He has been involved in every avenue of the jewelry business for the majority of his life. Brian has over 30 years of experience in collecting and selling natural color diamonds. Upholding the privacy of his clients, specifi c stones cannot be mentioned but Brian has held and sold some of the rarest and most famous diamonds in each color category.

“Working with Brian and Breanne has been a great pleasure. Their combined knowledge of natural color diamonds is very vast and they are very experienced and passionate about these rare miracles of nature.” - Gino DiGeso,

NATURAL COLOR DIAMOND ASSOCIATION

Page 33: B8ece58102

WWW.GUNDERSONS.COM 33

Gunderson’s Jewelers has the ability to obtain natural color diamonds for long-term appreciation. Generally, the hold period on a diamond can be an average of three to fi ve years; although, it may be based upon market conditions and any opportunities that may arise.

Our goal is to invest in natural color diamonds and colorless white diamonds. All natural color diamonds and colorless white diamonds will come certifi ed by an accredited gem laboratory such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), American Gem Society (AGS) or Hoge Raad voor Diamant (HRD). In certain instances, the company may also obtain an additional third party report to support the rarity of a specifi c diamond, the comparative value of the stone and any or all provenances related to it. If you would like to learn more about investing in natural color diamonds, please contact us today.

BREANNE DEMERS is the Vice President of Gunderson’s Jewelers. She has been involved in the jewelry business for over a decade. At the time that Todd and I were engaged, I was working at a local chain jewelry store. However, when it came time to pick out my engagement ring I could not bear the idea of wearing an engagement ring that I had already sold a half of a dozen times. Corporate always replenished sold rings within a few days so we could sell them again. This just didn’t appeal to me which is why I talked my fi ancé into visiting Gunderson’s. They had so many unique styles but in the end we decided that custom was the way to go. It was such a fun process. The jewelers created my ring from my sketches and I have been receiving compliments on it ever since. Needless to say, I started working for Gunderson’s shortly after that.

I was living in Brazil mining diamonds, yes mining diamonds, for Gunderson’s and Dee was in the U.S. completing her BSN. Our relationship over the previous fi ve years had been on-again-off -again and when I moved to Brazil it was off again yet we continued to write each other (the internet was slowly catching on but was almost non-existent in Brazil). In one letter, Dee wrote that she was thinking about moving to Denver to work following graduation. My response was, “Please wait”. Panic set in as I realized that she might actually move, putting a permanent end to our relationship status.

Several months later I was to return to the U.S. for a two week holiday. I arrived on July 2nd and spent the evening with Dee talking, okay maybe begging, her to reconsider her move to Denver. The next day she asked me to take several jewelry items into Gunderson’s to be cleaned and while there I quickly received expert advice from a former employee who helped me pick out the perfect diamond ring for a nurse. The diamond was set while I waited for Dee to pick me up.

Dee arrived to pick me up but before the door was even closed she inquired about her jewelry that was cleaned. As she drove off , I handed her the bag with her jewelry. At the stop light, she checked to see if all her jewelry was there. However, when she pulled the last baggy out of the bag she let me know that something was amiss as there was an extra ring in the bag that was not hers. I responded with, “You’ve got to be kidding. How did that happen?” I continued, “There’s nothing we can do about it since the store is closed until Monday due to the 4th of July holiday. Just wear it until then.” Dee informed me that she could not wear someone else’s ring. I looked at her and said, “Well then, in that case, it’s yours if you’ll have me.” I’m not sure how she kept the car on the road. We were married the following June.

ROB CINDYProposals: Past & Present

On February 16th, 1971, I went to my cousin’s pre-nuptial rehearsal and dinner. Little did I know that this night would change my life forever. After the rehearsal, we went to a restaurant for the meal and I sat down at my prearranged table. A few moments later, in walked the most amazing girl I had ever seen, still to this day. She had the cutest button nose and shiny sparkly eyes. If there is such a thing as “love at fi rst sight,” I was living it.

We dated for three years, and then just before she went away to college, I talked to Gunderson’s about making up an engagement ring. I asked her to marry me and she said “yes”. We were married June 1st of 1974. From our marriage, God has blessed us with three wonderful daughters, three sons-in-law who are like our own sons, and seven grandchildren.

At Christmas time each year, it has become a tradition to shop at Gunderson’s for my wife, three daughters and fi ve granddaughters. The staff at Gunderson’s anticipate my arrival and they always have wonderful ideas for me to choose from. It is such great fun to watch all the girls snoop under the tree for a Gunderson gift wrapped box with their name on it.

On August 1, 2013, my wife came home from town and was standing at the kitchen sink when I came in. Immediately as she turned around, I could see she was absolutely devastated. “What’s wrong, are you alright?” I asked. “I lost my diamond today,” was her reply. “Don’t worry, sweetheart, we have insurance,” I told her. “Yes, I know but that diamond was a part of us,” Cindy stated. Here was my life’s companion, lover and best friend hurting. What could I tell her? “When I gave you that diamond ring, it was you and me, the diamond and God. Of the four, I’m glad it’s the diamond that has gone missing,” I stated. “We’ll get it replaced.’

So with the help of Gunderson’s, on September 7th I surprised my sweetheart wife of 39 years with a diamond that has grown like our love for each other. I surprised her with a new ring, got down on my knee and asked her to marry me all over again. I will always be grateful to God, and thankful to Gunderson’s for helping me become the luckiest man in the world.

MARK BARBProposals: Past & Present

Mark and I met with Gary Gunderson at the original Gunderson’s on 5th Street in 1971, and picked out a diamond wedding set that we both fell in love with. It was the 7th of January in 1972. I was a senior in high school; Mark had graduated a year ahead of me. He picked me up from school that day and handed me a box to open. Inside was a funny statue with outstretched arms that read “I Love You This Much”, and a small box. I opened the box and my response was, “I am still in high school. I can’t have this yet!” Mark assured me that it was okay, since he had asked my dad for permission to give it to me, as long as we waited until I graduated to get married. Our wedding was September 2, 1972. We have been married 41 years now.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Our suggestion for a long marriage is to accept each other for who they are, and don’t think that you can change them.

Always take time from the kids and work to spend time together. It will form a loving and lasting relationship!

JEFFREY BREANNEProsals: Past & Present

Breanne and Jeff rey had met through Breanne’s mother who had taken classes with Jeff rey at Briar Cliff University. The two had become very close during their time together in college. Due to this friendship, Breanne’s mother then introduced her to Jeff rey and the rest, as they say, is history.

The wedding featured gorgeous shades of ivory and white with subtle champagne accents. Crystal and pearl elements further exemplifi ed the soft wedding décor. The wedding day festivities began with the ceremony that was held inside the venue. The bride’s sister had attached a small pearl frame with a picture of their mother on her wedding day to Breanne’s bouquet. The picture symbolized her mother’s presence with Breanne as she

walked down the aisle. Additionally, a seat was left open between Breanne’s father and maternal grandmother for her mother.

The reception was a stunning continuation of the ceremony with exquisite centerpieces and hints of champagne. During the maid-of-honor speech, Breanne’s sister passed out sky lanterns and asked everyone to write a special message to a loved one or well wishes to the happy couple to be sent up to the bride’s mother.

Although the formal ceremony and reception took place on April 20, Breanne and Jeff rey were not legally married until April 22. The couple chose to legally marry on Breanne’s parent’s anniversary date.

Breanne, Vice President of Gunderson’s Jewelers, was recently wed to her now husband Jeffrey on April 20, 2013 at Bev’s on the River. Her big day was not only a celebration of two

becoming one, but also a beautiful tribute to Breanne’s mother who had passed away in 2011.

The Sunday before Christmas, Michael surprised me at church. He told me that he was there to watch me play fl ute and to spend the day with my family. I didn’t think twice about it until we sat down to eat dinner and he handed me a letter. The letter read, “I couldn’t think of anything to get you for Christmas, so instead, I’m taking you on a Christmas date!” The back of the letter had instructions which read: Don’t eat too much because we are eating an early supper, Dress warm because we would be walking in the cold a little ways, Be ready to leave at 2:30 pm and Just enjoy the surprise! I was ready to leave at 2:30 pm and had a slight inclination of where we might be going. However, as soon as we turned to head south out of town, I knew my idea was wrong.

Soon after taking the Omaha exit, Michael reached into the back seat and pulled out a hidden present. Inside was a picture frame with the letter “M” and handwritten on it were adjectives that started with the letter “M” describing me and our relationship. An hour later he pulled out another present from the back. Inside was the second letter of my name “A”.

We fi nally reached our destination at Omaha Prime where he had reservations for supper. As we were waiting for our food, our waitress brought a third present to our table. Inside this one was the letter “R” and two tickets to the Mannheim Steamroller concert that was at the Orpheum Theatre that night!

After dinner we walked outside and saw a horse and carriage with a line of people waiting to get their turn for a ride. Michael walked with me right up to the carriage and pointed out a present inside that matched the others. We proceeded to budge, or so I felt, in front of the people in line. Once we got inside, I opened the present that was on the seat and inside was the “I” in my name. We rode through the streets to the Orpheum Theatre while admiring the trees decorated in lights along the way.

After the concert, we were picked up by the carriage and on the seat was the fi fth present with the last letter of my name, “A”. We rode through multiple more streets enjoying the Christmas lights before fi nally stopping at a small pedestrian bridge with a man standing on it holding a gift that matched my others.

I walked towards the man to ask if the gift was for me and he gave it to me willingly. Inside was a piece of paper saying, “Maria Lynn, I love you.” Michael asked what was inside and I told him it was a paper that said I love you. He said, “No gift?” and I replied, “No, just the paper.” I turned around and he was down on one knee and said, “That’s because I have the gift right here.” He asked me to marry him and I said, “YES!”

Bryan and I were married back in December 2009 when I was six months pregnant with our fi rst child. Bryan never proposed we just woke up one morning and said “Hey, let’s get married today”. We got married in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec 12, 2009 and then he deployed for six months. A couple of years went by and now we are in the year 2013 with our second child and three deployments down. For Bryan’s most recent deployment, he left in 2012 and returned on April 10, 2013. I was so nervous to see him that day and didn’t know how I was going to react. As the

buses pulled up, Bryan was nowhere to be found. He came up behind me and touched my back shoulder. As I turned around, he got down on his knee and said, “I know I didn’t do it right the fi rst time so I’d like to do it right this time. Will you marry me, again”? He even proposed with a new beautiful RING! It took me awhile to say yes because I was in complete shock. Tears ran down my face; I was not expecting it. We have been dating for six years and are going on four years of being married. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m truly blessed with a wonderful husband.

The evening before March 24th, 2012, Garrett told me that I would need to wake up early the next morning. This wasn’t a huge surprise as we usually enjoyed spending our Saturday mornings together biking and running. However, I was slightly confused the next morning when Garrett informed me to dress warmer than usual. Luckily for Garrett, I love surprises. Therefore, asking a lot of questions about our morning adventure wasn’t high on my priority list.

We ventured to the bottom of Tuthill Park. At fi rst glance, I wondered if there was an event going on because there was quite a bit of activity out on the grass; I soon realized that people were setting up hot air balloons! At this point, I had no idea Garrett was planning on proposing to me; I simply thought he

was being his charming self and doing this for our anniversary which was the following day.

While up in the balloon, the cool air made me stand extra close to Garrett in order to conserve warmth. Little did I know, Garrett was nervous that I would feel the ring box that was tucked away in his coat pocket and ruin the surprise. Fortunate for Garrett, I was too busy taking in the scenery and spotting landmarks from a birds-eye view to be concerned with anything else. Towards the end of the ride, Garrett asked me to take a look at a large house off in the distance. When I turned back, much to my surprise, he was down on one knee holding out a beautiful ring asking me to marry him.

Easter Sunday was hectic. Justin and I had invited a lot of people over for a late Easter dinner.

After waking up, I cleaned the house and started to prepare the food. I literally had no time to dress up and assumed my guests would understand. However, my daughter kept encouraging me to throw on some nice clothes and mascara. I resisted the idea of taking time away from making appetizers and entertaining guests.

A dear friend of mine stood up and made a toast to Justin and I for inviting everyone over. I had not eaten all day and was famished. After serving everyone their plate, I sat down to devour my own when Justin stood up and stated that he also wanted to make a toast. Tired from the day, I raised my glass as Justin said, “I want to make this toast to Amanda. I want to thank you for this amazing dinner you prepared and would also like to thank you for introducing me to your amazing friends and wonderful family.” Voice quivering and tears welling, he continued, “Your children are a blessing. I love you.”

He was choking back tears as I turned to look toward my children. My youngest boys were standing with the biggest smiles on their faces. Justin said, “I want to ask David, Julian and Marilyn for their blessing so that I may propose to their mom.” My heart skipped a beat as I slowly turned toward Justin who was on bended knee next to my chair. Holding a Gunderson’s box, he opened it and asked, “Will you marry me?” Overwhelmed, all I could do was cry and nod yes. It is a day that no one at that dinner will forget. I now know why my daughter wanted me to wear mascara.

Dan and Megan met on May 19, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA where they were both interning as project engineers. Initially, Dan mistook Megan for a human resources intern and his fi rst fl irtatious words were regarding her Iowa State University vanity license plates. Towards the end of the internship summer, they both had developed serious feelings for one another and wondered what would come of it. Megan, a Sioux City native, was off to study abroad that fall in Rome, Italy and would graduate from Iowa State in December 2009.

Dan, originally from Endicott, NY was to graduate from Purdue University that fall and had accepted a full time position with the company he interned at. However, due to the economy crash in 2009 Dan’s employment was revoked and he ended up back in Endicott, NY working for another contractor. Megan moved to Chicago following graduation from Iowa State in February 2010. Again, due to the failing economy, they found themselves in a long distance relationship – seeing each other once a month throughout 2010.

In February 2011, Dan accepted a job outside of New York City in Norwalk, Connecticut. A few months later, Megan moved out east to be with Dan and worked for a company in New York City. At last, they were in the same location and could begin a life together! After a year on the East Coast, Dan and Megan were each off ered fantastic positions in Los Angeles – the city they fi rst met in, and were always hoping to get back to.

The couple moved to Los Angeles in March 2012 and have since been living happily ever after in the Sunshine State. Earlier this year, they began discussing marriage. Megan had her eye on her dream ring at Gunderson’s in Sioux City, where her family has been shopping for years. Breanne, a Gunderson’s employee who had helped Megan’s family through the years, just happened to own Megan’s dream ring. Dan picked up on this and contacted Breanne who helped Dan pick out three diamonds. To help him make the fi nal decision, Dan contacted Megan’s parents and asked them to stop into the store to pick out the diamond that they liked the most.

This special moment for Dan and Megan’s families was one that Breanne made even more special. Once Dan received the ring in the mail, he couldn’t simply hold onto it. The engagement happened a Friday night after work at their apartment in Los Angeles where he completely shocked Megan. They couldn’t be more thrilled.

On October 18th, 2012, Neal and I closed on our very fi rst home

together. We had been searching since July and fi nally found it –

our new home.

There we were, the rainiest and coldest day of the fall thus far,

signing the paperwork with our realtor to close on the house. I was

making jokes referencing the fact that it was raining on our closing

day and mentioned that it probably means the same as rain on a

wedding day; laughing at the thought that we were buying a house

as two “single” parties. I now understand why both our realtor and

Neal hardly laughed at my jokes.

Finally, after signing a mound of paperwork, they handed us the

keys to our new home! At this point, I didn’t give much thought

to our realtor hugging Neal and saying, “Hope everything goes

great”. Little did I know she was in on this whole ordeal!

We ran through the rain to our separate vehicles and drove to our

new home on Jackson Street. Neal gave me the key to the house

and snapped a picture as I opened the door for the fi rst time (or

so I thought was the fi rst time for both of us). When I opened the

door, I could see through the beautiful wood and glass porch door

that someone had set up rose pedals leading from the doorway to

the opposite side of the living room, where under the bouquet of

roses, sat a black box. My fi rst thought was, “Why did our realtor

give us such a romantic gift?” and so I said, “Neal, what is this?”

and he said, “I don’t know, what is it? Go and see!”

Each step that I took to the fl owers and box, rose pedals leading

the way, my heart began to beat faster and faster. I noticed that the

black box had “Love” written on it and I allowed myself to fi nally

believe it. “This is it!” Neal was behind me the entire time. I opened

the box and on the bottom of the lid was, “Will you marry me?”

And, inside the box was a ring. Without a breath, I turned around

and there was Neal, on one knee, with the ring in his hand. I had

never seen him look so nervous before! My hands were shaking

and I was so disoriented with joy. I had no idea which hand was

my left. Neal fi nally had to grab it and slipped the ring on. Clearly, I

said, “OF COURSE!” and, “Wow, this is really happening!”

Several months earlier, we went ring shopping and Neal had to

motion to the saleswoman not to say anything because he had

already been there shopping. Even the realtor was in on it; she

gave Neal a key to our new home the night before to set up the

roses and pedals. When asked how long he had been planning this,

Neal said, “I knew I wanted to marry you for the last year. I had this

plan since the day we started looking for houses.” I had no idea but

am incredibly grateful that this man chose me to be his wife. The

engagement could not have been more romantic!

Custom DesignAt Gunderson’s Jewelers, we value unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. From distinctive new

designs to special heirloom jewelry, we provide a custom design process to suit the needs of any customer. Most designs begin with the customers ideas scribbled on napkins or from

magazine clippings. Individually, we sit down with each of our custom design customers taking careful note of their ideas and vision for the piece.

From the days of hand sketching to today’s technology providing Computer Aided Designs (CAD), careful attention to detail and a great deal of thought is applied to each one of our

customer’s pieces. Best of all, the entire process will be completed in-house utilizing the talents of our team of professionals.

Our custom design customers come in for a variety of reasons and Rhonda Chartier’s story was no diff erent. On March 24, 2013, Chartier had lost the wedding ring that she had worn for nearly 40 years. After searching high and low for the lost ring, Chartier had come to the realization that her ring was gone – maybe for good.

On March 29, 2013, Chartier received a phone call that countered her realization, someone had found her ring. However, the ring had been run over by a car in a parking lot breaking the band and disconnecting the diamond. Chartier brought the smashed ring into Gunderson’s with the hope of rediscovering its beauty.

“We’ve seen this level of trauma before. We’ve seen everything from rings that have been through a garbage

disposal to rings that have been run over like Rhonda’s,” stated Breanne Demers, Vice-President of Gunderson’s Jewelers. “We appreciate Rhonda’s business and enjoyed the opportunity to breathe life back into her damaged ring.”

With the help of our custom design staff at Gunderson’s, Chartier’s ring was fully restored back to its former beauty.

“I can’t explain how happy I am to have my ring back,” stated Chartier. “Gunderson’s made the process easy and painless. Instead of encouraging me to purchase a brand new ring, the Gunderson’s staff reassured me saying that my ring could be fully restored. And, when I went in to pick it up, it looked brand new.”

TESTIMONIAL

Gunderson GirlsEvery girl loves diamonds, and the Reuer girls are no exception. It all began when Landon Reuer was shopping for his bride-to-be, Cassie (Wik) Reuer; he knew she had a special ring in mind. It was when he came to Gunderson’s that he knew that this ring could be designed with her dream in mind. It was their careful design and eye for detail that made this dream a reality. On a hot June day in 2008, Landon took Cassie on a romantic date and as they returned to his home she went inside to follow a trail of candlelight and roses. When she turned around, he was down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She was in awe at how perfect her ring was – it was everything she had ever imagined it to be. With tears in her eyes, Cassie anxiously accepted and the couple was wed on June 20, 2009.

The story continues with Gary’s anniversary surprise to Vonnie. Gary Reuer proposed to Vonnie (Zabel) Reuer in February of 1980, with a date to the movie and a cracker-jack box. As Vonnie opened the prize inside the cracker-jack box, she jokingly said to Gary “I hope that this is a ring.” To her surprise, it really was the proposal of a lifetime. As their wedding anniversary was approaching, Gary knew that he wanted to surprise Vonnie with a special gift celebrating their 30 years together. As their daughter, Raquel, was looking at engagement rings, hoping for a proposal herself, Vonnie and Raquel knew that Gunderson’s was the place to look. While looking, Vonnie happened to fi nd a ring that caught her eye. Raquel quickly shared this with her dad. Gunderson’s employees Kellie Garrett and Mark Johnson assisted Gary in fi nding the perfect diamond to complete the ring. In December of 2010, Gary took Vonnie to dinner and desert was served on a silver platter in a cracker-jack box. Vonnie was in awe as she opened the box to fi nd that the prize was the beautiful ring from Gunderson’s.

The story continues when Rustin Deibert had silently been working with Gunderson’s, who were designing the perfect ring and assisted in fi nding the perfect diamond. In January of 2011,

Rustin surprised his bride-to-be, Raquel (Reuer) Deibert, with a romantic spa night. With rose petals and candlelight spread throughout the room and champagne on ice, Raquel had thought that this would be the perfect setting for a proposal. While at the spa, Rustin had mentioned how much this date resembled a date from the Bachelor. Meanwhile, Gary, Vonnie, Landon and Cassie anxiously waited to hear the news, as they had been in on the preparation of the proposal. As the night came to an end and they left, Raquel was disappointed as there was no ring in sight. The couple went to Raquel’s house and to her surprise; Rustin came into the room, presented Raquel with a rose that had the ring in the center and got down on one knee. He told her “I only have one rose to give, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” The ring resembled one that Raquel and Vonnie had found at Gunderson’s. However, Gunderson’s designed the ring beyond Raquel’s expectations. Rustin and Raquel were wed on June 23, 2012.

Vonnie, Cassie and Raquel receive multiple compliments on their beautiful rings and jokingly call themselves, “Gunderson Girls.” We would like to thank Gunderson’s and their wonderful staff .

CARL F. BUCHERER

A Swiss History of Time125 YEARS OF UNIQUE TIME INDICATORS.

125 YEARS OF BUCHERER.

The history and development of the Lucerne-based watch brand is closely linked to the person of Carl Friedrich Bucherer. A visionary who created timepieces that moved with the times, in the truest sense, always combining extravagance and

aesthetic appeal in extraordinary ways. Today, the watches created by Carl F. Bucherer remain exclusive statements of the time.

Over the course of time, watches from Carl F. Bucherer have become increasingly complex: multiple time zones and the complication of the perpetual calendar have been added to the chronographs and the moon phase indication. With perfect timing, to coincide with the jubilee, the Lucerne-based watch brand is launching four special models that skillfully combine tradition with contemporary design and the highest achievements of technology. In the Manero Power Reserve, the precise CFB A1011 Manufacture movement is for the fi rst time integrated into a Manero, which has a power reserve

indication to show the wearer at all times how much energy remains in the watch.

As a tribute to Carl Friedrich Bucherer, the founding father who gave the company its name, limited editions of the Manero MoonPhase and the Patravi TravelTec FourX have been created. For the ladies, a model named the Alacria RoyalRose has been created, with a twining fl oral dial that seems to bring time itself into bloom. Watches from Carl F. Bucherer – as history shows – are the embodiment of elegance and exclusivity.

Nordic Premiums also off ers The Company Store. This aspect of the business provides an online portal allowing companies to personalize items for their employees, sales representatives and department heads. Companies may even choose an online awards program that gives the employees the opportunity to select their own recognition gift by logging on to their company’s custom designed page. Some items of particular interest and appeal can even be off ered to the general public.

Items of particular interest over the past year have included fl eece blankets, pen styluses and custom designed hats. Additionally, we have seen an interest in custom items that are unique to each company. An example of this is a watch with the company’s name on the clasp. Not only is it a subtle way to incorporate a company’s brand, but also helps to improve a company’s marketing. When an individual asks where the watch is from, the individual wearing it may note that it was a gift from their company.

No matter the request, our knowledgeable staff members will do their best to provide personalized service to each client. We are proud to know our clients as customers and as friends. New this year, we are excited to announce an addition to our Nordic Premiums team, Dan Pickering.

Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Peru State in Peru, Nebraska. He has served six years in the U.S. Marine Corp and eight years in the Army Reserves.
