A part de reforçar l’aprenentatge de l’idioma d’una manera diferent, els nens aprenen moltes coses

sobre la ciutat de Barcelona en diferents períodes històrics.

About us

Kids&Cat gives the opportunity to discover, or rediscover, the city of Barcelona in a different way. We

believe in experiential learning, which is derived from play and curiosity, through exploring and

questioning the world around us. Apart from encouraging them to learn a foreign language in an

interactive way, children learn many things about the city of Barcelona during different historical

periods.

En grups a partir de 25 alumnes, i per garantir la qualitat de l’activitat, es desdoblarà el

Descripció de l’activitat Es tracta d’un joc de pistes per trobar alguns dels dracs que s’amaguen als edificis del casc antic de Barcelona (barri del Born i Barri gòtic). Per dur-lo a terme, faran servir un llibret de pistes i mapes, uns prismàtics i una brúixola. Els alumnes hauran de llegir i desxifrar missatges senzills, escrits en l’idioma que s’està treballant (català, castellà, anglès o alemany) i seguir les pistes per anar trobant els diferents dracs. Al mateix temps, els dracs seran l’esquer per aprendre coses sobre Barcelona; el guia els anirà explicant diferents històries i llegendes i donant dades històriques curioses sobre diferents punts del Barri del Born i el Barri Gòtic, ajudant-los a explorar el casc antic de la ciutat d’una manera diferent. Objectius pedagògics Identificar i interpretar missatges orals i escrits en llengües estrangeres (anglès i alemany) en

situacions reals quotidianes. Aprendre de manera autònoma i participativa, buscant respostes a les preguntes que ells mateixos

puguin fer-se sobre el tema exposat a la ruta. Orientar-se en l’espai llegint mapes i fent servir la brúixola. Conèixer i valorar el patrimoni artístic i cultural del propi país i el d’altres cultures.

BARCELONA, CITY OF DRAGONS Languages: English, Spanish, Catalan, German and French Duration: 2h 30 min Price: 215 euros + IVA, group up to 25 students 300 euros + IVA, group up to 35 students To guarantee the quality of the activity, groups of more than 25 students will be divided. Activity description This is a scavenger hunt to find some of the over 1000 dragons that are hiding in the façades, streets and squares of the city. Students will form groups of 3 or 4 members, where each group member will develop a task. During the activity the children have an opportunity to use different materials to find the city’s dragons: a booklet with clues and maps, binoculars and a compass. Students must read and decode simple messages, written in the language they are learning (English, Spanish or German), and follow the clues to find the different dragons. At the same time, dragons are the link for the children to learn about Barcelona; the guide will explain a lot of stories and legends and give some curious historical information about many different aspects of the city, helping them to explore the old town in a new and exciting way. Educational aims Identifying and understanding oral and written messages in foreign languages in real situations,

allowing them to access information and put it into words orally in order to solve every day

communicative situations.

Autonomous learning, and looking for answers together, to the questions the kids come up with

about the matters presented on the route.

Learning how to read maps and use a compass, and thus, how to better orientate oneself. Learning

about and valuing the artistic and cultural heritage of both their own and different countries.

En grups a partir de 25 alumnes, i per garantir la qualitat de l’activitat, es desdoblarà el

Descripció de l’activitat

Es tracta d’una activitat que pretén fer un viatge en el temps a la Barcelona romana i medieval.

Explorem les restes de l’època romana per sobre i sota terra i escoltem llegendàries històries medievals.

Passegem entre els espais d’una casa romana o del mateix Temple Romà d’August i després avancem

fins el segle XII. Veiem com es va eixamplar la Barcelona medieval i busquem els principals canvis que

va patir la ciutat en aquella època.

En aquesta ruta sentim l'encant dels carrers estrets i amb ombra; esbrinem com vivien i a què jugaven

els nens tant a l’època romana com a la medieval i ens traslladem al passat per aprendre com n’era de

diferent la vida quotidiana en aquella època. Descobrim com les famílies celebraven i veiem d’aprop

com la fe i la superstició dominaven les seves vides.

situacions reals quotidianes.

FROM THE ROMANS TO THE MIDDLE AGES

Activity description

The aim of this activity is to take a trip to Roman and Medieval Barcelona. We travel in time to let the ancient stones tell us some of their well-kept secrets. We imagine ourselves walking through the rooms of a Roman house, or maybe even the Roman Temple of Augustus, as it would have existed. We explore the remains of the Roman era and learn about some of its legendary stories. Then we jump forward in time to the 12th century, to learn about how the medieval city grew, looking for clues to how the city changed over time. We feel the charm of the narrow and shaded streets and we stop in time on a typical morning in the middle ages, even smelling, and hearing the bustle of daily life. We discover how the families celebrated and played in those times, and how faith and superstition dominated their lives.

and realizing how different things are in our lives today.

Es tracta de descobrir el barri de Poblenou de Barcelona i una mica de la seva historia, però centrant-

nos en l’art urbà com a projecte social. Fem una passejada i descobrim els principals projectes de

Rebobinart, una associació que treballa per apropar l’art urbà a la gent i aconseguir espais on els

artistes puguin realitzar les seves obres de manera legal.

Partint d’aquesta vessant de projecte social, passegem per diferents carrers de Poblenou i coneixem

projectes com “Dóna la cara per la teva ciutat”, on apareixen cares dels veïns del barri pintades de

manera realista a les persianes dels diferents comerços, o “Murs Lliures”, que intenta apropar l’art urbà

a la gent i habilitar espais per a obres temporals, on qualsevol persona pugui anar a pintar lliurement.

La ruta acaba precisament en un d’aquests espais fent un taller, on un dels artistes de Rebobinart ens

guiarà per a poder experimentar amb les diferents tècniques que es fan servir en l’art del graffiti.

STREET ART: TOUR + GRAFFITI WORKSHOP AT POBLENOU Languages: English, Spanish and German Duration: 2h 30 min Price: 480 euros + VAT / group up to 24 students From 25 students upwards 18,50 euros + VAT / student From 30 students upwards 17,50 euros + VAT / student From 35 students upwards 16,50 euros + VAT / student Activity description Here we discover the Poblenou district of Barcelona and its history, with a focus on urban art as a social

project. We go for a stroll and discover Rebobinart’s major projects, an association that brings urban art

to people and finds spaces where artists can express themselves and be creative legally.

Based on this facet of the social project, we walk through the different streets of Poblenou and get to

know projects like "Stand up for your city", where faces of neighbors are painted realistically in the

shutters of different shops, or "Free Walls " trying to bring urban art to people and enable spaces for

temporary artworks, where everybody can go and paint.

In fact, the route ends in one of these spaces with a workshop, where one of Rebobinart’s artists will

guide us as we experiment with the different techniques used in the art of graffiti.

COLOM I EL NOU MÓN

En grups a partir de 15 alumnes, i per a garantir la qualitat de l’activitat, es desdoblarà el

grup.


Es tracta d’una passejada que comença al pati del Museu Marítim, on entrem en contacte amb com era

la vida al port de Barcelona el 1492 i amb com vivien els mariners a bord d’una caravel·la. Coneixem

com van ser les expedicions de Colom al Nou Món, i toquem i olorem aliments que avui fem servir

diàriament però que van arribar d’Amèrica i Àsia, com les espècies i el cacau.

Reflexionem sobre la historia i la submissió dels pobles indígenes, sobre l’esclavatge i la importància del

respecte i el valor de les persones i les diferents cultures.

Visitem la casa Xifré i fem de detectius a la seva façana, per redescobrir elements relacionats amb el

mar, l’exotisme tropical i el llegat dels indians a la ciutat de Barcelona. Així podrem entendre la riquesa

financera i exòtica que va portar el “descobriment d’Amèrica” a Espanya.

Si és entre setmana, intentem acabar el nostre recorregut a la Casa Gispert, una de les més antigues

botigues de béns colonials de la ciutat, on fins a dia d’avui encara es respira l’aroma i la mística del

passat.

COLUMBUS AND THE NEW WORLD

Activity description

This tour starts at the courtyard of the Maritime Museum and is about how the world was perceived

500 years ago, what life was like at the docks in Barcelona in 1492 and on board a caravel. We’ll get to

know what it was like on the voyages of Columbus to the “New World”, and who were really the first

ones to arrive there. We touch and smell food we use daily that came from America and Asia, such as

spices and cocoa.

With the students, we explore the history and oppression of the native Americans, slavery and the

relevance of respect and morals towards different peoples and cultures.

We visit Casa Xifré and we become detectives trying to rediscover, on its façade, elements related to the

sea, the exotic tropics, and the indiano heritage in Barcelona. In this way, we can understand the

economic and exotic wealth the “discovery of America” brought to Spain.

On weekdays, we try to finish our tour in Casa Gispert, one of the oldest colonial shops in the city,

where we can still soak up the smell and the mysticism of the past.

Poden portar les seves bicicletes. En grups a partir de 15 alumnes, i per a garantir la seguretat y la qualitat de l’activitat, es desdoblarà el grup. Descripció de l’activitat Arquitectura i espai ens envolten constantment i marquen les nostres vides. Explorem en patinet la historia i el present de l’arquitectura de Barcelona i intentem percebre el nostre entorn conscientment. Aprenem les diferències entre els edificis modernistes de Gaudí o Domènech i Muntaner i els més moderns de Norman Foster, Herzog y De Meuron o Ricardo Bofill, o inclús altres edificis de segles anteriors. Seguim les passes de molts dels grans arquitectes i ens convertim en arquitectes nosaltres mateixos, experimentem i investiguem i deixem anar la nostra creativitat. Aprenem d’una manera lúdica com orientar-nos i ens fem preguntes sobre diferents conceptes de l’arquitectura, com són espai i llum, forma i material o escala i proporció. I, sobre tot, intentem esbrinar si ens sentim a gust en un lloc o no i perquè. Comencem a l’edifici modernista de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau i recorrem el Passeig de Gràcia, visitant les principals obres de Gaudí, fins arribar a la platja i la part del Port Olímpic, on es troba el peix daurat de Gehry. Architecture and space surrounds us constantly and affects our daily lives.

We explore the former and the current architecture of Barcelona on scooter, and we try to recognise our

environment consciously.

We learn about differences between the modernist buildings ofGaudí or Domènech I Montaner and the

latest by Norman Foster, Herzog and De Meuron or Ricardo Bofill, and others from centuries ago. We

follow in the footsteps of many great architects and we become architects ourselves, experimenting,

investigating and giving our creativity free rein.

We learn through playful activities how to orient ourselves and we explore different architectural

concepts, such as space and light, shape and material or scale and proportion. And last, but not least,

we try to figure out if we feel comfortable or not where we are and why.

We start at the modernist building Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau and make our way down Paseo

de Gracia, visiting the main buildings of Gaudí, until we reach the beach and part of the Port Olimpico,

where the golden fish of Gehry is.
