General Event Information Players will play 3 games, 2 hours 15 minutes each, using missions from the main Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. This will be announced at the start of the round. Battlefield Terrain (pg 248) is in use as well as Battlezones (pg 252). Chapter Approved Will be used. Boots on the ground – When determining which player controls an objective marker, exclude all units that have the Flyer Battlefield Role – these units can never control objective markers. Objective Secured – If your army is Battle-Forged, all Troops units in <Faction> Detachments gain this ability. Such a unit that is within range of an objective marker (as specified in the mission) controls it even if there are more enemy models within range of it. If an enemy unit within range of the objective marker has a similar ability, then the player who has the most models within range controls it. First Turn – The players roll off, and the player who finished setting up their army first adds 1 to their result. The winner can choose to take the first or second turn. If they take the first turn , their opponent can roll a D6; on a 6 they manage to seize the initiative, and they get the first turn instead! Missing a Battle If a player is over 15 minutes late or misses a game, the game will be awarded to their opponent. First round draw Players will be drawn randomly for the first round with a ‘Swiss system’ being used to determine pairings for rounds 2-3.

Terrain The Terrain will be pre-determined by the Tournament Organizer before the event. If you get to a table and the Terrain looks strange call the TO to re-set it for you. At the beginning of the game you and your opponent should discuss the terrain laid out on the table. Use the terrain rules as found on pg. 248 of the main rulebook. Rules queries All GW FAQ’s released on or before Saturday, January 13th will be used for this event. You can contact us at [email protected] if you have a question. At the Event any decision or ruling made by the TO are final and penalties may be applied for breaking the rules, not knowing your model’s rules, or arguing with the TO. You are expected to be aware and know all the rules pertaining to your own army. Please read all unit entries and FAQ’s that related to your army. Army Selection Armies must be battle-forged (pg. 240), are selected with a maximum of 1000pts. and limited to 1 Detachment. Remember: All models in an army must share one faction keyword. Players may select from any Codex or Index that is released by Games Workshop before January 13th, 2018. Once a Codex is released any datasheets contained within replace those found in the corresponding Index. If a datasheet is not replaced, like the Terminus Ultra, you may continue to select these alongside Codex Datasheets. Forge World models and rules are permitted.

WYSIWYG Although we encourage conversions and diversity, a certain amount of ‘What you see is what you get’ should be present to the best of a modelers ability. “Count as models” should match the official GW model for size, and footprint/base size, and weapon load out if possible. If you want to clarify if a model will be accepted, please email an explanation with pictures to [email protected] ATTN: Chuck. LIST SUBMISSION Two copies of your list must be submitted at registration for the 40k Winter Tournament. What your list must contain:

• Your name, the faction keyword your army is taking from and total command points your army has at the top of your list

• You need to declare on your army list if you have any Reinforcement points available to spend (If you don’t then you don’t need to list any!)

• Each Detachment with Detachment type and faction keyword for all models listed at the top of the Detachment.

• Psychic powers may be chosen (instead of Random) list them with the Psyker

• Nominate a Character as your warlord and you may also nominate a Warlord trait instead of rolling for it (pg 186 main rulebook)

• All upgrades and options must be shown on the list except those that come as standard on the model and cost zero points. Any wargear that is chosen (whether it costs points or free) must be listed.

• Units should be listed as ‘Battlefield Role’ ‘Unit Name’ ‘points for models “x” number of models’ ‘list of wargear with points “x” number of wargear’ ‘ Total points for unit’. Example:

Awards Grand Champion : Overall Point Winner (Gift Certificate) Best Sport: Best sport as voted by the players/Gift Certificate) Army Presentation: Best army based on painting, conversions or theme voted by the players/Gift Certificate)

Working out who has won The 40K Winter Tournament will be using a similar scoring system to that found at Warhammer World’s Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournaments. This is a combination of gaming, sportsmanship and army presentation scores. Your gaming score is based on the results of your games – you can achieve a maximum of 18 points here for winning all three games. You can then achieve a maximum of 6 votes for Best Sport (MAX 3 votes) and Army Presentation (MAX 3 votes). These scores combined create your 40K Winter Tournament score. A maximum obtainable score is 24 points. Gaming Scores At the end of each game, you and your opponent will have five minutes to report your game results to the TO. You need to do this as promptly as possible so that the next game can be organized straight away. You will also record tiebreakers, as well as votes for Army Presentation and Best Sport on your event scorecard. To determine the winner of each game, use the victory conditions as laid out in the mission. Once you know the result, you will record it on your event card using the following system:

• Win the game – 6 points • Draw the game – 2 points • Lose the game – 0 points

For each game you will also need to record on your event card the following victory conditions (if you achieve them), which will be used as tiebreakers should the need arise.

• Slay The Warlord • Linebreaker • First Blood • Points value of enemy units destroyed – This is the total, in

points, of enemy units that have been destroyed. Any units not on the board at the end of the game count as destroyed.

Best Sport and Army Presentation scores are calculated by voting in the following two categories when you hand in your final results at the end of the Championship. You get one vote in each category, and you must vote only for those players and armies you played against. This is also a secret ballot; so don’t let anyone see whom you’ve voted for! Best Sport – You can vote for one opponent you enjoyed playing against the most. Maybe they displayed excellent sportsmanship, perhaps they were positive and friendly, or it was generally a fun and engaging game. Winner will receive a Hobby Habit gift certificate. Army Presentation – You can vote for one army you played against that you liked the look of the most. Excellent painting standards, a fantastic centerpiece model, spectacular conversions or overall theme may make up your mind. Winner will receive a Hobby Habit gift certificate. Each vote you receive counts as one point towards your Championship score – this means you can receive a maximum of three points for Favorite Game and three points for Favorite Army. Every player must use their votes, as they are integral to the event. If you don’t vote, then you don’t rank! Final Standings At the end of the event the total amount of points you score from gaming, favorite games and favorite army votes will be totaled up and give you your Grand Champion championship score. The player with the highest points wins a Hobby Habit gift certificate. Tiebreakers If players earn the same Championship score by the end of the event, we will use the following tiebreakers to establish final rankings. They are listed here in order of priority:

• Total Slay The Warlord victory conditions achieved • Total Linebreaker victory conditions achieved • Total First Blood victory conditions achieved • Total points value of enemy units destroyed

Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the event:
