Ater having spent six years training as a veterinary surgeon,I went into general practice during which time I became a practicepartner. This was my rst experience o the business world andhighlighted how little I knew about managing a business andits people.
My interest in business grew and I decided that I needed someormal grounding in business management and I ound out aboutthe Bath MBA ater some considerable time spent researchingMBAs. I was attracted to the ormat o the course and its one-yearduration which meant that I could be working again in a short spaceo time. The reputation o the university and its wonderul locationalso convinced me to apply.
Having completed the Bath MBA, I can refect upon what alie-changing experience it was. Not only was I taught a range obusiness skills but also there was much valuable ocus on personaldevelopment arming me with an all-round toolkit or tackling themodern world. Furthermore, learning rom the experiences o myellow students perectly complemented the taught component othe programme, highlighting the importance o a wealth o dierentstudent backgrounds which the Bath MBA attracts.
Now, the MBA has enabled me to progress to a board-level role asExecutive Director o Operations o a large national charity, whichdemonstrates the useulness o the degree to proessional peoplewho would like to explore other industry sectors.
More specically, I nd mysel able to use the skills taught on
the MBA course on a daily basis, rom designing and improvingoperational processes to day-to-day people management. Inaddition, the balance o corporate strategy theory and practicalcase studies examined during the MBA has allowed me to actas corporate strategy advisor to the Chie Executive, a role whichclearly has an integral bearing on the uture o the charity.
