Bay Area Young Positives, Inc. (BAY Positives) was created 20 years ago through the efforts of young people whowere themselves struggling with HIV/AIDS. They established a place in which youth with HIV could receive care andsupportive services responsive to their unique age-related and cultural needs. What began as informal informationsharing and support groups led to the incorporation of BAY Positives in 1993, as the first peer-run 501(c)3 HIV/AIDS
youth advocacy nonprofit in the World. As 2010 marks our 20th anniversary of service delivery to youth in the San Francisco Bay Area, ourorganization is working to build on our deep desire to commemorate this occasion with truly vibrantcelebrations : Signature Events, which will involve not only our donors, volunteers, staff and Board ofDirectors, but our members as well, in festivities that promote interaction, communication, HIV/AIDSprevention, and sex-positive interventions.
BAY Positives is proud to partner with venue/catering sponsor, supperclub san francisco, to host bedtimestories: our
20TH
Anniversary Signature Gala & AfterParty Events, on the evening of Thursday, November 18, 2010. A cutting-edge, contemporary fusion of restaurant, bar, lounge, discotheque and alternative performance arts space, supperclubis all about creative freedom.
In an atmosphere of modern libertine experimentation and adventure, our distinctive gala dinner will feature a ludic,pillow-top la carte menu masterfully crafted by Executive Chef, Daan Jetten. The scintillating sensuosity of the four-course meal is set to hopscotch playfully into and out of an equally voluptuous vignette of cabaret-style performances, celebrity guest appearances, community member commingling, and silent auctioneering, all spun to a spectacle oflight, sight & sound by the genius creative core of pure supperclub artistry.
While bedtimestories guests will experience top caliber entertainment and special programming including aheadlining performance by San Francisco Bay Guardian "2009 Best Comedian," MARGA GOMEZ, as well as a fieryfabulous fairy tale "DRAG DIVA MASHUP" featuring the piously perverse SISTER ROMA as Mistress of Ceremonies &Fairy Godmother, along with some of San Franciscos most infamously celebrated drag impresarios performing live &lip-syncing as classically camp, yet comical bedtimestories personae guests will also have the opportunity to corral, converse and interact together in sumptuously salacious supperclub style with our local celebrity entertainers andcommunity leaders.
The gala dinner and alternative entertainment event will then culminate in an opening of hands, hearts, minds anddoors to the general public for an all-access, adult-only AfterParty spun in its turn pro bono by a trio of San

EXECUTIVE SUMMARYBay Area Young Positives (BAY Positives) was created 20 years ago through the efforts of young people who werethemselves struggling with HIV/AIDS. They established a place in which youth with HIV in San Francisco couldreceive care and supportive services responsive to their specific age-related and cultural needs. What began asinformal information sharing and support groups led to the incorporation of BAY Positives as a 501(c)3 nonprofitcorporation in 1993.
The BAY Positives mission is to help young people (26 and under) with HIV/AIDS to live longer, happier,
healthier, more productive and quality-filled lives.
BAY Positives was established as a peer-run organization because of a perceived lack of programming thatresponded specifically to cultural needs of youth and young adults who were infected with HIV/AIDS in SanFrancisco. For several years, the agencys services were completely designed, operated, managed, and directedby peers. As a result, all of BAY Positives programming was and is built upon concepts, activities, and interventionsthat have been established by young people with HIV for young people living with HIV. Therefore, BAY Positives isa membership organization, with a self-help focus in which members and staff all work together to support all ofthe members. This also means that BAY Positives services follow a strength-based approach, utilizing the clients
strengths, and particularly their cultural resources, to support the members expressed goals and wishes.
BAY Positives has evolved in the ensuing years in response to changes in the epidemic, the development ofevidence-based prevention interventions and treatments, as well as changes in funding requirements. While itsservices continue to be rooted in its peer-based approach, the organization is now professionally managed andstaffed, including the continued employment of youth and peers with HIV who help deliver services. Since 2003,BAY Positives has also incorporated an array of innovative evidence-based HIV prevention interventions into itsoverall programming and approach.
All of the services at BAY Positives are conceived as a single program with several interrelated and integratedinterventions that serve to fulfill its mission. The agencys outreach services educate young people in San Franciscoabout HIV/AIDS and its risk factors, identify youth whose behaviors put them at risk of becoming infected, andassist those who do not know there sero-status to be tested. This includes supporting individual youth through thetesting process and engaging those who test positive into the services provided by BAY Positives, while also linkingthem and coordinating their care and treatment with other providers.
BAY Positives delivers Venue-Based Individual Outreach, Venue-Based Group Outreach, and Street Outreach at a
number of locations, including in schools, streets where youth congregate, parks, clubs and street fairs. BAY Positiveshas also pioneered internet outreach specifically targeted toward high risk youth. We are currently renegotiating

linkage to health, housing, employment, entitlements, and other needed services. Within this setting, BAY Positivesalso provides support groups, activities, and weekend retreats intended to reduce isolation, build community, andsupport the self esteem of high need youth with HIV. This has included innovative interventions, such as a HealingArts Workshop Series, Yoga, Urban Gardening, and Drumming groups, as well as Movie Nights, the Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, and other holiday celebrations. These activities, in turn, serve to engage members
into the Prevention for Positives interventions.
As 2010 marks our 20TH anniversary of service delivery to youth in San Francisco, this proposal builds on adeep desire to commemorate this occasion with a truly vibrant celebration: a Signature Gala, throughwhich we can involve not only our donors, volunteers, staff and Board of Directors, but our members as well,in festivities that promote interaction, communication, HIV/AIDS prevention and sex-positive interventions.
In order to coordinate and implement effectively these plans for a grand celebration, BAY Positives currently seekssubstantial monetary and in-kind support to underwrite production costs for our event through sponsorship at the
corporate and individual level.
Incentives for individuals giving at the corporate level, such as you: Dr. Basel Dalloul, who commit to the highestpossible level of support for the BAY Positives 20TH Anniversary Signature Gala, include (but are not limited to)access to a diverse population of potential customers or constituents, premier promotion of the individuals brandimage and identity through a wide array of logo placement opportunities, advertisement in our event program, VIPtickets and hospitality packages for up to eight representatives of each sponsoring corporation, radio andnewspaper advertisements to promote the event throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, awards and recognition atthe event itself, and opportunities as well for continued promotion of each sponsoring individuals brand image andidentity via the BAY Positives website and quarterly e-newsletters.
FUNDING REQUESTWe would like to extend an open invitation to Dr. Basel Dalloulto sign on as the exclusive PRESENTING SPONSORof our 20TH Anniversary Signature Event(s) with a fully tax-deductible charitable contribution of $10,000 to$25,000USD,which could include, but is not restricted to, a minimum monetary investment of 85% of an individualsdonation and an investment of 15% of the individuals donation through in-kind support.
The in-kind support you might offer is fully negotiable, but BAY Positives requests that your in-kind support arrive inthe form of significant product donations for a Silent Auction during the event.
These ideas are simply examples to be explored further through an on-going, comprehensive one-on-onenegotiation process involving a you: Dr. Basel Dalloul, and a representative of the BAY Positives Board of DirectorsFundraising Committee.
