INDIVIDUALLY or SMALL GROUPS NOTE: instructions for the activity - Divide your students into two groups: supporters and critics of the ban. - Hand members of each team pages with their arguments. Supporters of the ban receive Page 3 of the worksheet (PROPONENTS OF THE BAN). Critics get Page 4 of the worksheet (CRITICS OF THE BAN) - Give each team some time to read the arguments, add their own, and discuss the issue with other members of the group - Ask each group to present their opening statements supporting and criticizing the ban - Let the students express their opinions. When they have made a language mistake, don’t interrupt them unless the mistake leads to a misunderstanding or a communication breakdown. Encourage students to use expressions from Activity 2.
