Welcome! A very warm welcome to the annual WGGS Christmas Fair. I am so pleased that you have

decided to spend both your time and money in supporting the school and hopefully picking up some gifts for the season ahead.

�e Fair has been organised by the Parents’ Association and I am immensely grateful for their unstinting work for the bene�t of the girls. �e PA is a great team; they prove, time and again, that the success you get out depends on the e�ort. �e PA’s e�orts have been tremendous and today is the day we can all do our bit to contribute to the Fair’s success.

For a chance to win a sensational prize, including £500 Intu Vouchers, an X-Box or £100 cash, you will need to buy as many tickets as you can for the Grand Draw. It will be drawn just before 3-00pm, but until then, tickets will remain on sale at the front of the Main Hall. You may also wish to bid for items in the auction details of which can be found in this programme.

If you have young children, or you want to experience some real Christmas fun yourself, go to the Year 7 girls’ Mini Fair in the Ground Floor classrooms where the girls and sta� of Year 7 have organised games and competitions galore!

Whether you are choosing a gift from one of our many external stallholders in the Main Hall or trying your luck on one of the tombolas I hope you �nd what you are looking for, or didn’t know you needed.

Please stay here for lunch or just pick up a snack. We have superb Asian Food on sale all day downstairs in the Food Factory, and there is the Christmas Café selling savouries and cakes, and you will also �nd pizza, hotdogs and even mulled wine.

It is a hard fact that school �nances are increasingly limited and that we are dependent on the extra income we can generate with wonderful occasions such as today’s Christmas Fair. Please be as generous as you can: I can assure you that you’ll get good value in return. Indulge yourself! Take full advantage to get your Christmas shopping o� to a good start.

Introducing the WGGS

Parents’ Association Charity Number 272844

�e PA raises money to provide resources, facilities and equipment to support the girls during their time at school.

Funds are raised from a number of events, including a Year 7 Bingo night, an annual Christmas fair and Quiz night, and a social event for the new Year 7 girls and parents in the summer term. �is year we also held a joint Comedy Night with Watford Boys’ School.

Funds raised by the Parents’ Association have helped pay for the following:

• Computers

• Refurbishment of the Maths Building

• Refurbishment of the Year 7 area, Lady’s Close

• Lighting equipment for the Hall for school productions and music events

• Refurbishment of the Curve, next to Lady’s Close - an area used for recitals and hire

• School minibus

• New trampoline for PE lessons and a�er school clubs

• Furniture for the Sixth Form block, Tennet Centre

• Resurfacing of tennis courts and provision of a multi-use astro court.

This would not have been possible without parents’ support, and with your help, we can do more.

You can also help by signing up to any of the following:

• Join the Women of Vision Trust (via the School’s website, under ‘About us’)

• Join the PA’s 100 Club and potentially win money on a monthly basis (via the School’s website, under ‘School life’)

• Log onto www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/watfordgsgpa/ and earn money for the school every time you shop online at a wide variety of retailers, and at no cost to you.

• Ask your employer if they run a fund-matching scheme. Companies who encourage employees to participate in their local community will often pound match fundraising efforts through corporate sponsorship, and this makes a significant difference to our fundraising efforts.
