At the conclus ion par t ic ipants wi l l have abusiness idea ready to develop as par t o f the NewEnterpr ise Incent ive Scheme (NEIS) .

PARTICIPANTS will be actively seeking employment and can be aged between 16 and 60 years.

Prior business expertise or high literacy levels NOT required.  In order to progress into the NEIS

Scheme participants need to be fully eligible for Jobactive or be a Disability Employment

Services participant in the Employment Assistance Phase.

FACILITATED by business advocate, Kerry Anderson, local business leaders will also be

enlisted to share their knowledge and mentor participants through the process.

Who?

In a supportive and hands­on learning environment participants will learn: *What business

attributes and skills are desirable for success; *Why business is important to our community and

what business opportunities are available in the region; and *How to develop a new business

idea that can become a reality with support through the NEIS Scheme.

What?

When?TIME/DATE TBA:  An introductory one hour session will assist participants to decide if this

program is something they would like to do. 

TIME/DATE TBA: The program will then continue on a weekly basis and can be offered as 6

weeks x 4 hour sessions, or can be negotiated to suit existing programs and participant needs. 

Some independent research and activities will be required to be undertaken by participants

between sessions.

As a 2011 Victorian Rural Woman of the Year finalist she launched an extensive research project

that took her to the United States meeting with successful communities and educators.

Over a three year period Kerry led the highly innovative Operation Next Gen project working with

three towns and secondary schools in rural Victoria to trial practical and effective ways of

engaging with young people and encouraging entrepreneurs.

As a thought leader Kerry frequently represents the region at national and international forums

and is invited to present at conferences here and overseas. In addition, she regularly writes a

column for Inside Small Business, speaks on ABC Regional Radio, and shares positive stories

about rural Australia through her blog and social media.

In recognition of her extensive networks, knowledge, and passion for rural communities, Kerry was

appointed to the Regional Development Australia Loddon Mallee Committee from 2012 to 2015. 

Recently she has become a Women Making Waves ambassador promoting the achievements of

women across the Loddon Mallee region.
