It works up to a peak of excitement and then ends decisively.’ Using Growth Mindset Praise and Feedback We are continuing our conversa- tions around Growth Mindset in our professional learning meetings. We are hopeful that you as parents are also attempting to change the way you interact with your children around praise and feedback so that we are all using the same language. Here are some more tips that you may find helpful: x Adopt the word ‘yet’ into your vocabulary. If your child proclaims that he doesn’t understand something, can’t dribble a basketball, or can’t play a song on his guitar, remind him that he can’t ‘yet’ but with hard work he will have success. x Avoid comparing your child’s success with siblings or friends – achievement is not a competi- tion. There is enough success for everyone. x Praise what your child does, not who he or she is. Instead of saying, ‘You are so smart/clever/ brilliant’, say ‘I can see you really worked hard/put forth effort/ tried hard’. Praise perseverance and resiliency when you see your child struggle or face challenge. Avoid praising grades. Focus on praising work ethic and effort – not achievement. Machines and soft wood off-cuts. I am hoping to set up a machine workshop corner where students can explore what is inside machines and how their parts connect and move. To achieve this I need an assortment of old machines that students can dismantle. The parts will be retained to use in a Technology and Design unit where we use the parts to create our own machines mounted on soft wood off-cuts. To achieve this I need an assortment of machines. In the past the machines such as those listed

below were very useful. Toasters Printers DVD players Cassette players Radios Video players Old-style telephones etc…etc Please note televisions and microwaves are unsafe for this project. Kind Regards Glynis Hester A3 Transition/year 1

The Truck Matthew Connor On Friday the 12th August Tom’s dad brought in a big truck to show us. It was a very cool truck and the bed was nice and comfy. It even had a fire extinguisher. It cost $450,000 to $500,000. In the truck there was a TV and a microwave.

Maya Purdon Today on the 12th of August we had Tom’s dad bring in a big truck. It was blue and yellow. It cost $450,000 to $500,000 and it can tow 175000 kg which is about 35 elephants. We all lined up outside the door to have a look inside. Soon it was my turn and I climbed up into the truck. It was so steep. Inside there were two seats and behind there was a bed. The truck even had a fold down bunk and a microwave. I climbed down the other side and got a hat and a poster from the truck. Then we came around and stood in front of it for a photo and Tom’s dad said that the truck was used to transport fuel to one place then another. Then he walked into the truck and blew the horn. It was loud. I really enjoyed learning about trucks.

Isaac Herold

On Friday the twelfth of Au-gust Tom’s dad brought a big Kenworth truck for use to inspect. The best part was when we got to go in it. It even had a bed.

The truck actually had four-teen wheels. It was a big road train. Its company was RTA. That stands for Road Trains Australia. And at one time it

beeped really loud. Inside it had a lot of switches and a microwave. The transport has a lot of fuel that is why they are made for going long distances. Road trains carry a lot of cattle. These road trains have four carriages. This was a really cool truck.

Aalyia Swanson On Friday 12th August, Tom’s dad brought in a big truck to show us because we are learn-ing about olden day transport. The truck can lift up to 35 elephants and if it was pow-ered by milk it would need 2000 milk bottles to keep it going. They can carry about four trailers. We got to go inside the truck. It had a bed, tv, timer, microwave and even two doors at the back of the truck. It costed $450,000. If you did stop on that truck it would take you about 200 metres for it to slow down. They are 52 metres long. We got a hat, 2 posters and I got a photo on the bed and in front of the car. My favourite part was when they pressed the horn. It was very loud.

Sophie Sawyer On Friday the 12th of August there was a truck visiting our school. We went down to see it because we are learning about olden day transport in class. Tom’s dad brought it in. All of us went inside and there was a bed in it. My favourite part is when Tom’s dad beeped the horn. It was loud though. I got to get a poster of a truck and a hat. Then Tom’s mum gave us all an information sheet about the truck. Finally we went back to class and glued our information sheets in our unit of work books. I had a great time.

Jaxon Saligari On Friday the 12th August Tom’s dad brought a big truck to show us. First we looked around and it was one of the best trucks I’ve ever seen. Next we all lined up. Every-one ran to the truck as fast as they could. When it was my turn I went into the truck. It was so good. It even had a microwave. The truck was used to transport fuel. Then we all got a photo by Miss Evans or Tom’s mum and then Tom’s dad beeped it and it was really loud and we got a poster and a hat and then we went to ask more questions. I asked how long it was and he said it was about 52 metres long and it was really big. Very big!

Campbell Brown Today Tom’s dad brought a truck. The truck has very big fuel tanks. It carries fuel. It would take about 200 tanks per week. Its horn is very loud. There is a bunk bed in it. It has a microwave and it even has a television. It can fit 3 trailers on it. It is very strong. It travels all over Aus-tralia. My favourite part was the horn beeping.

Kaelif Robb On Friday the 12th of August Tom’s dad brought in a big truck to show us. It was huge! And heavy! It cost $500,000. And also they can carry 17500 kg which is about 35 elephants. It takes about 200 metres to slow down which is about a whole foot-ball field. Tom’s dad works at Kenworth so if he didn’t work at that place you wouldn’t be reading this. What I liked about this truck is it was so flash. Then we had to go.

Recycling at Bees Creek Don’t forget that we are still recycling all bottles, cans and cartons with the 10c symbol. To make Diane’s job easier we would appreciate if all cans, bottles and cartons are rinsed out and placed in the correct bag located near the carpark behind the caretak-ers residence.
