The leaders from a variety of schools were taken on a tour of the building, with their favourite part being the afternoon tea and presentation of certificates. KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION We had a successful Kindergarten 2019 Orientation. It was enlighten- ing to see the children interacting with our current Year 5 students and their completion of ‘big school’ art activities. There was a wonderful turnout of parents. A special thank you to Audrey, Isaac, Sarah, Oscar, Luke and Rosalie from Kindergarten who spoke very well about their experiences at Belrose and to the KD Kindergarten parents for assist- ing us with the morning tea. Thank you to the organisers for enabling another avenue for community engagement. Our parents are very generous with raising funds for the purchasing of resources for our students. Following the Halloween night where the children were allowed to dress up and have fun, it was time for the parents. Hoping that new acquaintances were formed and everyone had a great time. Please refer to the P&C Report. STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR BELROSE PS I have through my Principal’s reports at P&C meetings informed the community of our continuing progress for meeting our Strategic goals at Belrose PS. Our next year's Kindergarten students will be leaving school in the year 2031 and we need to continually reflect on our teaching practices to cater for the students of the 21st century. Of course, all students need to learn how to read and write and use num- bers but are we engaging these students sufficiently to take ownership of their learning and to be critical and creative thinkers? Yesterday’s Executive Planning Day focused on our plans for 2019 with specific milestones for each term. I have high expectations and an amazingly committed and hardworking staff. We look forward to the journey ahead. CRAZY SOCK DAY - BLUE FOR STEWART HOUSE DAY

A big thank you to all students who participated in the Blue for Stewart

House Day to raise money for Stewart House. You all helped to raise

$480.00.

Every year 1,700 public school children attend Stewart House, next to Curl

Curl Beach at no cost to their parents or carers. During a 12 day stay they

are provided with dental, optical, hearing and medical screening and treat-

ment. Children participate in educational programs and excursions designed

to develop their social and emotional skills, build self-esteem and improve

their overall well-being. This experience provides children with a much need-

ed break from their current circumstance. The children are inspired to see beyond the present and to have real hope

and positive aspirations for their future.

Children in the care of Stewart House attend a specific purpose school onsite for 8 days of their 12-day stay. The

NSW Department of Education provides infrastructure and staffing support for this school. All others costs associat-

ed with the childrens’ stay are met from charitable donations.
