    Job title: BERN Development Intern Oxygen Sensors

    Job Description:

    Work on development team which is developing a second generation thermal shock

    resistant automotive oxygen sensor. The chosen intern will perform engineering

    tasks to choose and evaluate new materials and processes and evaluate their use

    in oxygen sensors to support meeting team goals.

    Team goals are:

    1. Reduce energy usage by replacing Atmospheric Plasma Spray system (high

    electricity and argon demand) which is used to apply a sensor element coating to

    improve thermal shock resistance.2. Reduce raw material usage (overspray material is waste).

    3. Improve thermal shock resistance of oxygen sensors, which will lead to a further

    reduction of emissions by enabling advanced emissions controls.

    4. This new technology may be adapted to a new intake oxygen sensor, which will

    enable a further degree of advanced engine control to reduce fuel consumption.

    Knowledge and Skill Set:

    Ability to design, perform, and analyze experiments. Knowledge of materials properties, particularly at high temperatures. Knowledge of and experience working with ceramic processing technologies

    and materials and functional testing equipment.

    Technical background Experience in the automotive industry Experience in the topic of E-Mobility Experience with electric power train (E-Motor and power electronics) Knowledge of vehicle system development Knowledge with project management Experience with customer projects German skills preferred Willingness to travel internationally
