Shrove TuesdayWow! What a great turn out for our Pancake Breakfast/Morning Tea at the Village Gazebo on Tuesday 27th February at 9am.Almost 30 Residents enjoyed pancakes with a variety of toppings to suit most tastes served with tea, coffee and juice. There was a great atmosphere and everyone who attended seemed to enjoy it and so we may do that again later in the year.Sorry so busy cooking that I forgot to take photos, oh well next time!

Joke Corner

Two Gas Company servicemen, a senior trainee supervisor and a young trainee, were out checking meters in a suburban neighbourhood. They parked their truck at the end of the alley and worked their way to the other end.

At the other end a woman looking out of her kitchen window watched the two men as they checked her gas meter.

Finishing the meter check the senior supervisor challenged his younger co-worker to a foot race down the alley back to the truck to prove that the older guy could outrun the younger one.

As they came running up to the truck, they realised that the lady from the last house was huffing and puffing right behind them. They stopped and asked her what was wrong

Gasping for breath, she replied. When you see two gas men running as hard as you two were, I figured I’d better run too.

Thanks to Dawn Pollard for this contribution more to come!

St Patrick’s Day – March 17th

Saint Patrick's feast day, as a kind of national day, was already being celebrated by the Irish in Europe in the ninth and tenth centuries. In later times, he became more and more widely seen as the patron of Ireland. Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated by those of Irish heritage all around the world in many different ways but mostly involves the consumption of green Guinness, dancing and in some cities the crowning of the “Rose of Tralee” a young lady of Irish heritage who goes to Ireland to represent South Australia at the crowning of the International Rose of Tralee.

2020 Neighbour Day Sunday 29th“Older people with strong social networks experience better physical and mental health” from Beyond Blue (2016) Connections matter. In 2020, Neighbour Day is looking to flip the loneliness discussion to get Australians to focus instead on the importance of belonging – to start people thinking about how they can put their energy into creating positive meaningful social connections with people outside their normal groups.
