is funded by the Austrian government and the Austrian Economic Chamber

General Criteria

Bottom-up Approach



Funding in Austria

Living Allowance (monthly 14 x)

Mobility Allowance (monthly 12 x)

Travel Allowance (once a year)

Career Exploratory Allowance (singular if > 12 months)

Yearly NET income:

~30.500,- Euro (without familiy status)

~33.500,- Euro (with familiy status)

including ALL insurances for you & familiy



STEP 1 Check your eligibility !

Researchers having at least 4 years of research experience (full time equivalent) since gaining a university diploma or already in possession of a doctoral degree

How to get it ?

STEP 2Select an appropriate Host Institution !

Host Institutions can be Universities, Research Centers or Industry active in research



STEP 3 Contact the Host Institution !

Send an email together with a scientific CV

How to get it ?

STEP 4Agree with host about research project !

Project has to be of interest for the host because they will cover all research costs



STEP 5 Write the proposal !

You have to write the proposal - the host will just give assistance

How to get it ?

STEP 6Submit the proposal !

You have to send the proposal to Brussels



Duration of project: 1-2 years

Researcher prepares proposal with the assistance of the host

Researcher has to write a career developement plan, which clearly states the scientific and training needs and prospective training impact of the project

One contract between the EU-Commission and the host institution and one between host institution and fellow

Host institutions get about 750 euro/fellowmonth for training activities (conferences, courses...)
