Bank of Kigali sponsored the Young Entrepreneurs Debate Championship 2013 organized by Rwanda Inspiration Back Up Ltd. The Final Debate was held at Serena on Sunday 29th September 2013. BK acknowledges its role in nurturing human capital, particularly in improving education which is a critical success factor for Rwanda’s long term skill and capacity development.A total of 29 secondary schools and four
universities participated in the compe-titions where the best performers were rewarded with laptops, scholastics, T-shirts among others. The secondary schools were the best debaters from the provinces.
The City of Kigali and the Eastern Prov-ince participated in the finals. The City of Kigali was represented by Green Hills Academy, Lycee Notre Dame de Citeux,
Bank of Kigali’s Marketing Manager Sarah Kirenga and the University winners of the Debate Championship 2013 posing for a photo after the debate.

Kagarama Secondary School and APE Rugunga, while Eastern Province was represented by Nyagatare Secondary School, Groupe Scolaire Saint Aloys, Institut Don Bosco, Kiziguro Secondary School and Gahini Secondary School.
Green Hills clinched the top spot nation-wide after emerging the best in Kigali City Province. The university category was won by the Higher Institute of Ag-riculture and Animal Husbandry (ISAE- Busogo) in a competition that included the National University of Rwanda, the School of Finance and banking as well Mt Kenya University. The debate aims at widening the scope of understanding about entrepreneurship among sec-ondary and university students in line with encouraging and enabling them to become job creators as opposed to job seekers.
The Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Youth and ICT, Rose Mary Mbabazi, appreciated Rwanda Inspiration Back Up for the idea of organizing such competi-tions because it helps youth to improve on their capacity.

We take education and activities which encour-age youth development very seriously, as we believe that the development of a well-educated society is directly linked to the future health and success of all communities.
The Bank also hosted students from different Universities and Secondary schools around Rwanda who were to participate at the Young Entrepreneurs Debate Championship 2013. The visiting delegation totals to about 35 including Students and their Patrons.
Bk team did a profound job promoting and educating the visiting guests on our innovative products, the team had an opportunity to interact with the guests and tour different departments in the bank.

Bank of Kigali hosted Banque de Credit de Bujumbura to a friendly match in basketball as well as football on Sunday October 20th 2013 the day got off to a great start with teams from both banks playing Basketball at Cercle Sportif de, Kigali. In the first two quarters
Bank of Kigali dominated the scores while in last two quarters Banque de Credit de Bujumbura played better and increased their scores. However the BK team proved to the have played better winning the match with a score of 59 points.
The football match which took place at Amahoro Stadium and attended by staff members of both Banks.
The Chief Operations Officer of Bank of Kigali, Lawson Naibo and some of the staff members of the Bank opened the game by greeting all players from both teams on the field. In the spirit of sportsmanship, both teams also shook hands before the game began.
Our team played exceptionally well during the first half and scored four goals whereas Banque de Credit de Bujumbura scored one goal. The match ended with Bank of Kigali scoring an incredible 8 goals to BCB’s 1 goal. The football game was a spectacular end to the sporting events that left spectators looking forward to the round of activities between the two banks. What followed was a luncheon held at the Bank of

Banque de Credit de Bujumbura was presented with a trophy for participating in both games. In turn BK was awarded with a trophy for winning both games by the Banque de Credit de Bujumbura representative.

What is BK Yacu?BK Yacu is a branchless banking service that enables BK customers to carry out their banking at their nearest BK Yacu agent countrywide.
Who is a BK Yacu agent?A BK Yacu agent is a retail outlet contracted and approved by the Bank, to process clients’ transactions. BK Yacu outlets include Supermarkets, Pharmacies, Dry Cleaners, Retail shops, Petrol Stations, Mobile Telecom agents among others.
How do I get to use this service?You will have to register with BK for the BK Yacu mobile application. To register, visit any BK branch and get activated instantly or request to fill a mobile banking application form at any BK agent.
Do I need to have a bank account with Bank of Kigali to access the agency banking services?Yes, you must have an account unless you are receiving money from a BK account holder.
What are the main benefits of using BK Yacu service to customers?• Reduced time and distances traveled to Bank branch as the agent is closer to you.• Longer banking hours as some agents open as early as 6 a.m. and close as late as 9 p.m. while others work overnight.• Shorter queues than in branches saves you time.• More personalized services since agent outlets are many and serve few clients.• Lower transaction cost; it is closer to you as opposed to taking a taxi to go far where the branch is located.• More accessible at your neighborhood and comfort in dealing with people you know who are BK agents.• Enables non-BK clients to receive money (from existing BK Clients) at the comfort of their neighborhoods irrespective of whether they have an account with BK or not and whichever mobile network they operate with then the same money can be withdrawn at any BK agent in the country.
What Services are currently available with BK Yacu application?The main available services are:• Deposit Cash.• Withdraw Cash.• Send Money (person to person) to anyone in Rwanda.• Application for account opening.• Apply for Visa debit card and cheque books.• Register for BK Mobile Banking Services and for mVISA.• Pay Merchant through a menu called mPay.
