Black & White and Light Project. This project comes in 2 parts. Part 1- Black and white photography. For this part of the project you will have to; Take at least 1 roll of film (your photographs should concentrate on the aspects of image that are highlighted by black and white film- light etc. (this is explained further in the Light project section below)); Develop this film; Create a test contact sheet; Create a contact sheet; Create a few test strips for enlargement; Correctly enlarge at least 3 Photographs; Experiment with the use of contrast filters; Experiment with the process of dodge and burn; Experiment with double exposures. This work should be presented in your journal with a clear description of how the processes work and why you have taken the pictures in your journal. Light Project. For this project you will be producing a series of images that show the effect of light. You could (among other aspects) focus on; Shadows, Reflections, Silhouettes, Light at different times of the day, Light across objects, Natural/Artificial light, For this project you could work on either digital (as long as your camera is set to ‘monochrome’), black & white film or a combination of both (many students prefer to work on B&W film as the quality and contrast of this is often much better than B&W digital). For this part of the project you will be producing a final piece that will be displayed and marked as part of the end of year exhibition. You will also need to show in your journal:

Black & White and Light Project.
