Dear Families:

The prophet Isaiah lived about 700 years before Christ. He prophesied (spoke on behalf of God to the people) that God would bring health and salva on to his people. Isaiah said: "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the mute will sing” (Is 35:5-6). The faithful Jews, and especially John the Bap st, understood that many of the things Isaiah said were signs that the long awaited Messiah had come. The miracle that we read today, about the healing of a deaf man who had a speech impediment, is one of these signs. Jesus is fulfilling what Isaiah announced. Therefore, Jesus is the Messiah and Savior.

I invite you to recognize the presence of Jesus among us. Every year, many brothers and sisters receive the sacraments of bap sm, confirma on and communion. They are children and youth and also adult men and women. For them, the life of God has reached their souls through the sacraments. They are the signs of God present in our parish.

We must find and announce to others that Jesus is present among us and that he wants to give health and life. Many young people need spiritual and physical health. The moral decay of our society is becoming alarming. Let us ask Jesus that the signs of his presence be bright for those who out of goodwill (and in good faith) seek to correct the wrong course of their lives.

September 11 is a date etched in the history of the U.S. with pain and humilia on. The course of history has changed and the consequences of that terrifying day are present in our way of living. This act of terror was a signal to our na on, a sign from God that invites us to build a be er world based on jus ce and peace for all. At this me in our na on, we need legislators that are inspired by Chris an roots, to defend our common ethics and morality; to defend the sanc ty of life; and to protect our youth against the drug scourge, pornography, and sexual debauchery.

Let us draw closer and closer to our Lord, his cross, and the Sacraments of the Church, which are the source of peace and life. Prayer will make us feel that Jesus is at our side, that he comforts us, forgives us and gives us hope. He never abandons us. May we live our faith with courage and joy.

Queridas familias:

El profeta Isaías vivió unos 700 años antes del nacimiento de Cristo. El profe zó (habló de parte de Dios al pueblo) que Dios traería la salud y la salvación a su pueblo. Decía Isaías: “Entonces se despegarán los ojos de los ciegos, y las orejas del sordo oirán, saltará el cojo como el ciervo, y la lengua del mudo lanzará gritos de júbilo” (Is 35:5-6). Los fieles judíos entendieron y sobre todo Juan Bau sta, que muchas de las cosas que dijo Isaías eran las señales de que el Mesías esperado largo empo ya había llegado. El milagro que hoy leemos de la curación de un tartamudo es una de estas señales. Jesús está cumpliendo lo que anunció Isaías. Por lo tanto, Jesús es el Mesías salvador.

Yo les invito a reconocer la presencia de Jesús entre nosotros. Cada año muchos hermanos y hermanas nuestros reciben los sacramentos del bau smo, confirmación y comunión. Son niños y jóvenes y, también, hombres y mujeres adultos. Para ellos ha llegado a sus almas la vida de Dios a través de los sacramentos. Son las señales de Dios presentes en nuestra parroquia.

Hemos de buscar y anunciar a otros que Jesús está presente entre nosotros y quiere darles salud y vida. Muchos jóvenes necesitan la salud espiritual y corporal. La decadencia de la moral de nuestra sociedad está comenzando a ser alarmante. Pidamos a Jesús que las señales de su presencia sean luminosas para los que con buena voluntad desean corregir el equivocado rumbo de sus vidas.

El 11 de sep embre es una fecha grabada en la historia de los EE.UU. con dolor y humillación. El rumbo de la historia ha cambiado

y las consecuencias de aquel día de terror están presentes en la manera de vivir. Aquel acto de terror fue una señal para nuestra nación, una señal de Dios que nos invita a construir un mundo mejor basado en la jus cia y paz para todos. Hace falta que nuestros legisladores se inspiren en

raíces cris anas, que defiendan la é ca común, la moral cris ana, la defensa de la vida, la protección de la juventud contra la plaga de la droga, la pornogra a, el liber naje sexual.

Acerquémonos más y más a nuestro Señor, a su cruz, a los Sacramentos de la Iglesia que son la fuente de paz y vida. La oración nos hará sen r que Jesús esta a nuestro lado, que nos consuela y que nos da esperanza. El nunca nos abandona. Y vivamos nuestra fe con valen a y alegría. Today we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Charity, patroness of Cuba. Our Cuban brothers and sisters have made a novena of prayer these days for their beloved Cuba. They have endured many years of pain away from their island, not to men on the suffering of those who are s ll there. May Our Lady of Charity take our prayers to her Son. Peace and goodness to you, brothers and sisters of Cuba. Remember Cuba, especially on the Feast of Our Lady of Charity.

Registration The registration for Religious Education began August 11th

and will continue through September 15. If you need to register your children, please stop by the office. Registration hours are from 2:00 to 5:00pm, Wednesday through Friday and Sundays after Mass.

Remember to bring the child’s birth certificate and baptism certificate. Cost for the class is $28 which includes: Registration, Bible & Prayer’s Book. Please call the office at 955-3934 for more information.
